Has anyone used the No. 1 Lounge At Gatwick's South Terminal?

It looks really nice on the website but just wondered if anyone had first hand experience?

TIA :goodvibes

We used it in September.

It was nice and the food and drinks were included (except Champagne & cocktails).

It can get busy though as it is not very big. We get it as a perk with our bank account but I wouldn't pay full price for it.

We used the lounge last year and are using again on Sunday.

It is very relaxing and we liked it. Depends on when you use it but we have breakfast when we go and use the internet and just chill before the flight. It is nice to relax instead of trying to find a seat in the usual departure area.

Also, if this makes any difference to you, hardly any children go to this lounge it would seem. :confused3

Really lovely lounge - much more adult orientated, I would not feel comfortable bringing children here if I had any, very quiet!!

We had breakfast and drinks overlooking the departure gates, as well as the hot food menu (one hot item per person) they also have cupcakes, pastries etc as a little buffet. Drinks are all waiter service.

Was fairly quiet when we went, no one was sat upstairs.

I was disappointed when we were there a few weeks ago. As people have already said, it is quite small and so it got packed without many people actually being in there. There's also not many seats, or rather, they are all grouped around bigger tables, which meant that you'd get a situation where three families of four would arrive and each would take a table that had six or eight seats around it and all of a sudden, there's no more spare seats in the whole lounge (unless you want to butt in and join one of these families - which they might not appreciate!)

I also was not impressed with the food and drink - not so much the quality, which was good, but the availability. We normally go to the Servisair lounge where basically you help yourself to a whole range of stuff, mainly pre-packaged snacks, but I don't mind that. Here's it's all fresh, but possibly because of that, the range is much reduced. We got there at 11am for a 1pm flight and the breakfast selection was still out - if you wanted a bag of crisps or a sandwich or something like that, tough. Also, for some reason you had to order your drinks at the bar and then have them delivered to you (or sit with them at the bar) - there was no fridge to help yourself to soft drinks. That would have been okay, except it then took about ten minutes for them to arrive at your table. All I wanted was a Coke, I didn't need a waitress for that!

At the same price as the Servisair lounge, it was certainly posher and everything from the food to the decor to the service was more upscale. But if you just want to sit down (and not have to wait for a seat) with a newspaper and a quick snack that you can get quickly and easily, then I wouldn't bother.

Thanks for the info everyone
We just like to have somewhere to sit, read the paper, have a spot of breakfast and relax before our flight
We've used the V Room in the past and really enjoyed it but we aren't using Virgin holidays this time
The Number 1 Lounge sounds like it will be fine for what we need
Thanks again everyone :)

I would be interesyed to hear if anyone has used the No 1 lounge North terminal. We will be using this in feb, as we liked the one in the south terminal.
