Day 4, Part 2 ANIMAL KINGDOM AND FANTASMIC
We headed back to the AKL after a quick lunch. DH wasnt feeling too well so he laid down while the girls and I went down to the pool. We spent about an hour in the pool and then went back to the room to get ready for dinner as we had PS for the Brown Derby tonight and entrance to Fantasmic. Since this was also going to be our last night at the AKL, we started packing up what little we had unpacked. On our way to catch the bus to MGM, we stopped by bell services and asked them about moving our luggage the next day to the YC. They looked very pained, but told us when we were ready to check out the next day to just give them a call.
DH decided to hang in the room as he wasnt up to another trek to the parks so the girls and I headed out to MGM in time to catch the parade. We made it there just in time (again the buses from AKL to MGM are S L O W) to watch the tail end of the parade as we entered the park. We walked through a few stores and headed to the Brown Derby for our PS.
This is where the BD could probably improve. There was one poor CM at the desk and a line of about 25 people. It would have been much better if there had been a line for those who already had PS and those who were hoping to get a seat. We waited in line only to hear party after party in front of us being turned away. By the time we got to the front of the line, we were past our PS time, but were seated about 10 minutes later (there were many empty tables when we were seated but when we left, the place was packed).
We were given a menu and our dinner package for Fantasmic included a full meal from appetizer, main course and dessert. The food was very good and we were happy to be sitting inside in the cool air for awhile.
After dinner we headed over to Rockin Roller Coaster because DD2 felt she could ride the roller coaster this time if I was with her. We got FPs for 7:50 to 8:50 p.m. figuring we would get there just at 7:50 ride the coaster and then head over to Fantasmic. Since we had some time to kill, we went to see the Muppet 3-D and it started to rain just as we entered the theater. After the show we spent some time in the gift shop (waiting for the rain to end) and then headed over to the Great Movie Ride (as there was no line). Once out of that, we went into one of the gift shops and talked to one of the CMs there about if Fantasmic would be cancelled. He said they try to wait until the very last minute to cancel and they would only cancel due to lightening not just rain.
The rain stopped! We headed over to RRC and got there about 7:40 p.m. People were still in a 45 minute line (I just dont understand why people dont use FPs) and we heard the ride was broken. Uggh! However, right before 7:50 the ride started up again and we went in. DD2 did fine until we actually got into the limo and then these big crocodile tears started. Just as they were counting down .3 2 1 .DD2 firmly states she CANNOT do this ride. I told her to take my hand because we couldnt get out now! DD1 was sitting behind us and she said she heard DD2 crying as we took off. Bad mother that I am .DD2 was laughing and smiling by the time the ride was over. One thing I have learned about my little princess .she is very hesitant to try something new and sometimes needs to be pushed a little. I would never put her in harms way, but she needed to get over her fear of RRC and she did!
I think she walked on air all the way over to Oscars where we walked in a closed gate for the trek to our seats for Fantasmic.
