Recently, on another website, I read about a nitely campfire, with kits you can buy to make s'mors at POR. Has anyone ever attended this event?

I have heard of this at Fort Wilderness Campground but not at POR. Anyone?

There are camp fires at Ft Wilderness and POR. They are a relatively new feature at POR. I don't have any details for you though. I'm hoping someone does know more about it. We have an upcoming trip to POR.

I know they have nightly campfires at Ft. Wilderness. I haven't been to it but it sounds like fun. You might want to ask this question on the camping board because you may receive more responses there.

They do have them at FW but they did not at POR last year while we were there. I don't see how it would fit in at POR unless they burn down one of the mansions as a reenactment of the civil war.

It's on the island part where the pool is...like I said, it's relatively new and I don't know the exact details...

This sounds like fun. I am going in December and this sounds like something relaxing in the evening. I have been to the one at FW and had a blast. Hope this is as good.

That was hilarious!

Are these campfires just for guests staying at FW and POR or can guests from other WDW resorts attend? They sound like fun. I just don't want to infringe upon any paying guests.

The one at FW is for anyone, and I'd assume that the one at POR is as well. Unleses they start to get too full where resort guests complain, I don't think they'll restrict them. I don't think the one at FW is ever really that crowded. Keep in mind that during some of the busiest times it's either REALLY cold out, which keeps a lot of people away, or cancelled due to inclement weather or mosquito borne disease issues. If you're attending from another resort, I'd call before making the trip.
