I'm buying a DS this year for my boyfriend's kids.
Ok, it's really for me - ha!
So I've been shopping around and I'm confused.

What comes with the DS lite?
What is so great about the accessory packs?
Are the accessories really useful and/or neccessary?

The accessories that I find useful are a

car charger,

a storage bag (helps me to keep all of the tiny game cartridges in one place without getting lost)

and for my 5 year old a nerf cover and screen protector. He drops his a lot and this is very good for protection.

The ones DS7 has that get use:

The DS Folio that can hold the DS, a few games and extra stylus. $10

Extra styluses (they get lost easily). $7 for three

A car charger. Grandma bought it.

The DS Lite comes with it's own traditional charger (for in the house).

Don't forget a couple of games! Circuit City usually has a few older games at decent prices. Costco has good prices on more recent games... but selection is hit or miss. Check Amazon for ratings on games.... also don't forget that Amazon does free shipping and will save you a lot of leg work if you just order stuff and have it shipped to your home!

Be sure to get a case to hold the DS and the small game cards..

Also pick up a 3 pack of the stylus also. They are cheap and kids tend to lose the two that come with the DS
