Nikon IR Remote for $3

I recall a couple of threads a while back regarding the wireless infared remote for Nikon cameras. One discussion began about fireworks photography and turned into a discussion as to whether the remote could be used in bulb mode. It turned out that it could (set camera to bulb, press button on remote to release shutter, press button on remote again to close shutter). Toward the end of that thread some DISers expressed that they would be buying an IR remote for their cameras. The official Nikon remote is quite affordable (a little under $20 on Amazon), but there are 3rd party ones available on ebay and other places (again, Amazon) for even less (under $10). There's nothing particularly special or complicated about IR remotes, so there's no reason to believe that the 3rd party ones wouldn't work just as well as the official one from Nikon.

At one time I had a button on my universal remote that I learned from the Nikon remote.

I have the Nikon remote and would suggest anyone who shots on a tripod should add this to thier gear. Well worth it. I am sure the cheap ones will work just as well, but I cannot vouch for the durability.

how long did it take to ship?. The canon is $2 more but comes from hong kong. The last thing i got from hong kong took a long time and was wrong to boot( different seller)

I have no idea how long they take to ship, but at that price I'd be flexible. They're almost disposable at that price. They might even be cheaper than buying a new battery for the thing!
