About 45 minutes later we start to see all the Disney exit signs. Oh my gosh, my heart started beating fast, adrenaline started running. This chicky poo was getting excited.
We worked so hard this year saving money, planning, making arrangements and it was finally going to happen. Yes, there were tears. Of course no one in the truck seemed to understand, so they just picked on me. I'm pretty abused when it comes to my tears. But that's alright.
We take the exit to Pop Century, quite fast I might add. I just needed to "be" there.
Of course we had to take the picture that shows you are leaving the real world and entering the world of happiness, my world.
We followed the signs to the Pop. Pulled up to the shed and a lady comes out and asks for my Drivers License. I hand it to her and her and her partner start checking out the truck. The must have oooh'd and ahhhh'd over it for 15 minutes. We had quite the line behind us. If you were behind me, I am deeply sorry, not my fault.
I parked the big truck, let me tell you this is not an easy task when you are used to your little jeep. Robby went in with me to check in. My goodness there was quite the line.
I'm thinking Hello, this is supposed to be a slow week. What are all you people doing here?? I realized it was only the Friday after Thanksgiving and still pretty busy, but people were supposed to be checking out, not in.
I waited for a good half hour, finally got my packet and we were off to find our room for the next 2 nights. We were in the Bowling Pin area. 80's?? I just love Pop, it is so Disney. The only thing I don't like is how far away you have to park to get to your room. The only Disney Resort we have stayed at was Old Key West and you pretty much park right next to your room.
SO, this was a surprise. We had a LOT of stuff to haul. It was kind of late to get a cart now. So we loaded up and went. Well we were on the 3rd floor and I swear my suitcase was at least 80lbs. I managed though.
It was funny I had looked at the room key when I got into the truck after checking in, but that was it. When we were walking from the truck to the room, I had us on the 1st floor. We got to the room and all the windows were decorated, I thought WOW, look what mousekeeping did. We tried the room keys and they didn't work. Hmmmmm Wonder why??
Nobody was very happy with me after that!
The room was nice. But after the room in Daytona a tent would have been nice. It was a very simple room, nothing more than what I expected. A place to hang our heads and wash our butts.
We were pretty hungry at this point, so what is the next Disney thing to do? Downtown Disney!!
Oh the parking was something terrible, and the crowds were the same. That place was FREAKING PACKED! I just kept telling myself they will all be gone tomorrow or Sunday. And Smile. What are you going to do?
I just love this tree they have in front of the Toy Store.
I had my heart set on Earl of Sandwich for quite some time. So this is where we made our way to. The sandwiches were awesome. I thought they were going to be warm and toasted, so this was a minor disappointment. But they were still good. Man, I could go for one right now.
I wanted to check out the Disney Sport store. For the life of me I can't remember the name. I really wanted something that had Disney and the Detroit Tigers on the same thing. My 2 favorites. All the baseball stuff they had in there and all I could find was a hat. This didn't make me very happy. They can make it to the world series, they play games at the Wide World of Sports in the preseason, but all they had was a hat with a D on it!!
I quickly got over it and looked around the rest of the store. Tried on some other hats.
I think it's so me. What do you think??
We wanted to walk around a little more but I'm telling you it was really hard to get around with all the wall to wall people. So we left and went back to Pop.
It was almost dark when we got back to the room. The boys and I got our swimsuits on and headed to the pool. It was pretty chilly out to be in nothing but a bathing suit. I'd say around 60?? So I was a little worried about the temp of the water. Matt got right in and told me it was warm. But his warm and my warm are 2 different things. You know how teenagers can be so I was pretty worried he wasn't telling me the truth.
IT WAS WARM! As a matter of fact it felt like a great big bath tub. It was perfect!! There were only a handful of people in there with us. We pretty much had it all to ourselves. A great big bowling pin to swim in.
I don't know if anyone else has this problem, but when I swim with the boys I become the pool toy. They pick me up and try to throw me, I say try because I can't go under water without holding my nose. So I have to beg and plead for them to not do it. We were probably in there for an hour and a half. It was awful getting out of there. Pretty chilly.
We went back up to the room. Matt jumped ahead so he could get in the bathroom to change first. Robby and I are standing at the door freezing. I grabbed my sweatshirt and tried to do that Flashdance thing. I put my sweatshirt over my head and tried to get the straps off underneath it as I was pulling it down. It was going pretty good.
Just as I thought I was going to make it, I lost control of the strap, and Robby got to see what every son NEVER wants to see. He started crying. Well it was fake, but still. I was laughing so hard my gut hurt. Poor Kid!
I didn't bother with the bottoms. Don't want to send him over the top.
By this time we are all hungry again. It was around 8:30 when we all got changed. We headed to the Food Court. I was really surprised at all the selections. We got our food and headed back to the room to eat.
This is what the boys got.
This is what Jay and I got. I know the look like meatball subs, but really they were major heartburn on soggy bread. Oh my gosh, it was terrible. They weren't bad tasting, but I had to take almost a whole roll of tums to feel better.
After we were done eating I went out to take some pictures.
Another perfect day was over. Tomorrow was going to be our first day in the parks. Magic Kingdom to be exact. I was on a mission to make rope drop so I made everyone go to bed. We were pretty tired anyway.
Hey everyone, Have a Very Merry Christmas and Stay Safe!
