We will be driving down to WDW in Feb and arriving Saturday afternoon and checking into BCV on Sunday. I'd like to get a room on property for that first night.

My ? is do you think that it would be a good idea to stay at the BC/YC that first night so DH can wake up early and just walk down and check us in? Do you think we'd have any kind of advantage in getting a better room this way? The only requests we will have is for a big balcony that doesn't look at a road/parking lot.

Thanks :teeth:

I do think it is a good idea. He could walk down, and if the rooms available do not fit your needs, he could walk back to your resort. Because you are so close, he could check back every now and then until the room you want is ready.
Plus, I've always wanted to stay at YC. ;)

Good luck...

Why not just PAY for a room at BCV on Sat night and have the reservations "linked." That way your DH would not even have to walk down. He could sleep in. They may offer you a discount on the paid night as a DVC member -- if not keep checking back because they could post a discount at any time.

Paid nights at DVC resorts are THE SAME price on weekends and weeknights whereas you have to use twice as many points on weekends.

It would be a bummer to have to leave one room at 11am and have to wait for another until 430pm.

Thank you!! We just stayed at the YC this past August and LOVED it! I highly recommend giving it a try! ;)

The sleeping in thing isn't an issue because DH never sleeps in on vacation. He's usually up around 7am every day because normally he gets up 4:30-5am, so technically 7am is sleeping in for him-lol.

I'll have to check out the paying for the night at BCV, thanks for the idea.

Problem solved!

I just went on Hotwire and got the Dolphin for 111.00 for the night. YAY! :teeth:I've always wanted to try out the Dolphin!

Add $10 plus resort tax to that amount. The $10 is a resort fee that covers in-room coffee, daily newspaper, health club and local phone calls (up to 1 hour). I have heard that it is a mandatory fee, a pricing practice that I don't think much of.

The Swan and Dolphin have been recently renovated to Westin standards. Here is link to the Swan and Dolphin web site.

They also often have spectacular AP rates.

Have fun!
