Nicky's Wish trip 9-20-10

Oh my gosh! I love the T shirt!!! Who did that?! It is awesome! :)

Love the Buzz swim gear! He's so cute!

We went to Mackinac Isl. about 10 yrs ago. (I'm sure it hasn't changed, since it's all restored old houses and such! lol) We did not have kids yet, but we went with my parents and sister/BIL and their two (1 and 3 at the time). It was hard at times to have such little ones, but not bad. We rode bikes around the island and they had a trailer for the kids to ride in. We stayed at a hotel on the main road so we walked to dinner and shops. It is beautiful! I'd definitely go back, if I get the chance.

Just joining in here. Those shirt will look really cute! Can't wait to see pictures of the shirts and hear more of your plans.

8-17-10 - just got back from trip to Michigan. My parents came back with us, so now we are going to take them sightseeing in Chicago. Nicky has an appointment at the hospital down there tomorrow.

Shirts are done :) I can't believe it, after all that trying to figure out how to do it, I had a friend of a friend who owns a printing shop who was able to do everything for $5 a shirt! I will take a picture of it and post it on in a few days.

My sister gets down there a few days before us, so she is going to get Nickys shirt signed by the characters and surprise him with the autographed shirt:) What do you guys think is the best thing for her to use to get it signed. Is there like a fabric marker or something?

teresajoy pm'd me about the big give while I was gone and I just now checked my messages. I hope its not too late to get in on that.
teresajoy, if you read this, I tried to PM you, but your mailbox is full.

Got some info in from MAW. Our expense card, our flight times, and the limo is picking us up at
4:30am! its a good thing we are all morning people. More info to follow :)

One more thing? My sister told me something about Dis-boarders put a picture of Mickey Mouse on lime green paper and attach it to their stroller and packpacks, and thats how people know you are a dis-boarder down there??? whats up w/that?[/QUOTE]

Good luck with Nickys appt tomorrow. I can't wait to see the t shirts. How cool you sister is going to have his autographed before you get down. He will be so excited. I would say a fabric pen or permanent marker.
Your getting so close to your trip. Wow!!! 4:30am is so early, but at least you should get to GKTW early.

A lot of Dis people will get the "alien green" paint chips from home depot and put their dis name on them and have them as a hang tag on their back pack/bags/strollers, etc...so if you see someone with a lime green mickey head on them, strike up a conversation...it is probably a fellow Disser! Of course, I am one that will strike up a conversateion with everyone in line with me...I like hearing their stories, finding out where they are from, it makes the time go faster. My son thinks I am a nut case sometimes (like when the person in the eyeglass place actually talks more than me and it takes a while to get out of there:rotfl:) But I truely just enjoy talking to people! I miss my part time retail job...can't wait until our mall is back open (it flooded in the big flood here in Nashville in May)

So, I am sure that is much more information than you ever wanted...

Lol. My friend Patty is like that. She strikes up conversations with people like that and can go on and on. I am more shy, so I usually don't do that, but I will see if I can get the green Micky thing. I am about down to 1 month to the trip, so I am in panic mode.

Nicky does not like loud noises, and I know some of the rides (and even parades and fireworks) are loud - so I think I am going to look for some headphones to help block out some of the noise.

The headphones are an excellant idea! I know cantwaittoseemickey (Ty's Wish trip)...Ty used headphones with success!

I just had a chance to read through your PTR and am excited for you that your trip is so soon. I am sure it is exciting and a bit overwhelming that it will be so soon. I am excited to continue following your plans and to hear about how your trip goes.

If you find some headphones that work well please post the info on your PTR or TR if you don't mind. I am thinking I will need some for my son who is pretty affected by loud noises in movies so I can imagine on loud rides he will not be happy. I have looked into a few options but would love to hear any suggestions based on your experience on your trip. Thanks so much!

I saw your post on the main thread, and just wanted to make sure you saw my response, as sometimes that thread moves quickly! As for MNSSHP, the tickets would be about $200 for your family...a lot I know! But, that ticket allows you to enter the MK at 4pm on the day of the party. (There is not a seperate admission cost unless you are going to the MK before then and you have already used your GKTW ticket.) Most people would plan this on a day that they were not going to the parks (or in this case a Disney park), because this can basically give you an extra park day. Does that make sense? The party does not officially start until 7pm, but you can get a lot in in those extra 3 hours that the ticket gives you. I can not say enough good things about this party. The fireworks and the parade are awesome...but keep in mind, that we were a party of adults and my son was 15 at the time. Go to you tube and look for some video of the parade to make sure that it won't be too over the top for Nicky. We had a blast trick or treating. let me know if you have any questions...I am not sure how clear I am being here!

I know the party must be awesome. I am going to talk to my husband and try to do it. I am not going to mention it to the kids (in case it does not work out) and if it does, it will be a big surprise for them:wizard:

Picked up a few things for the trip today. I got a mesh storage bag to attach to the park stroller (should take care of the storage problem).
The next thing is to look for some headphones (to block loud noise).
Last time we went I bought a wrist band type thing that goes on my (or my husbands) wrist and the other one goes on Nicky's wrist - with about a 5 foot retractable line. Its like that thing so he can't run off, but not quite as bad as the backpack harness thing. I think the one we have is more appropriate for a "big boy" My sister had a "dog tag" made for her son with their number in case he got lost, and he wore it everyday while they were there. I might do something like that too. My 8 year old knows her number and stuff, so I don't think she would need one.
I don't want to pay $19.99 for a rain cover for the stroller, so I am going to do what I did last time, which is buy a clear shower curtain to throw over the stroller if it rains. It worked last time, and it rained cats and dogs too.
Hope I am thinking of everything. Its crazy how many little issues we have to plan for.

I'm with you on the "things we have to plan for"
I am a list person. So I started a detailed packing list for each person. I printed some disney notebook paper off line then put them on clipboard on the wall be the calendar. The kids though I was crazy for making them put dowm everything. No you will hear someone yell "can you put ___ on my list?"
I think that is helping up to feel a bit more prepared.

TIMES TICKING DOWN!!!!

I have the list thing going too , only difference is I have ours in a report style book from papers i printed here off the board, some of them are sooo fantastic(all) kids are always grabbing teh book and fillign in thier pages (packing list things they want o do per day per place etc ) and after the trip is done i plan on taking all the pretrip planning that we have done in notebooks, the DISboard PTR and TR to save as a journal style , Typos and all.. scribbles and all hehe . when i have it all together i will go ahead and have 2 copies made at staples or whichever place and bind it for each of the kiddos as a memory book of this occasion :) from start to finish.

Going to a Make a Wish fundraiser on Sunday. Should be fun. :cool1:
Started logging my itenerary on excel spreadsheet logs. Its eaiser to get a whole picture of what is planned, what is missing, and time gaps/conflicts when its all on paper. Then I need to start my packing list. I used to pack both kids in 1 suitcase, but I think this time I will pack each their own to allow room for stuff comming back.

Oh Have fun ! and good idea on the seperate bags :) I have been trying to tell kiddos to leave room in bags for trip down because most likely will be filled on way back, they looked at me like i had 3 heads... *sigh* So I told them ok will be lighter to travel with that they accepted .. Guess they will be surprised lol
