Nick's Make-a-Wish Trip!! Day Two updated! 2/28/09!

We got our first BIG GIVE!!! Of course I can't thank anyone and I can't post pics! Yesterday there was a parcel slip in the mail box and dh said.. on my way to work tomorrow afternoon I will pick it up. Thinking it was for him.

So.. he calls me a bit ago, saying, I opened it and it was for the kids. Three wonderful.. year of a million dreams Mickey Ears! I asked who from, he doesn't know because it is in the car now and he is in work and won't be home now until close to 11pm. UGH!!!!

The first big give item and the kids didn't even get to open it!!!! AHHHHHHHH

I will thank the person who sent it more properly when I can! I promise!!!!!

Next IVIG isn't until Dec 2nd.. we just had one and I was hoping it was going to help since he had just finished abx for the same sinus infection and bronchitis. He sees the immunologist on the 8th, and his reg doc.. actually a PA, that we saw today said he needs to be back on his daily allergy meds which his allergist took him off of this summer. So maybe that will help with the recent influx in sinus infections.

hope that helps
we have IVIG on the 5th
Jason always has a rough weekend after treatment so we go on fridays so he can rest

okay.. they posted a little article with our pic in it today in the paper.. I tried to scan it in but I think it looks horrible.

This little "neighborhood" section of the paper is not available online. I might try and take a pic of the article and see if comes up better. I know I am not photogenic at all but I know that I don''t look that bad either! LOL!!!

I don't know how I missed the update with the newspaper article! :)

I think it looks fine! :) You can read it just fine! It is great that you guys were able to represent Wish Kids...I hope you guys had a great time!!! :)

I think it is great to leave early so you can get to Orlando early enough to do something at GKTW that same day. Does anything happen that night on Monday?

I wish our flight leaving was later in the day (noon) but I guess it is okay since the kids do have to go to school the next day.

Ohhhh.. and that does remind me, does anyone know about the chapel at GKTW, I remember reading about it in one person's TR. Is it just a visit type worship place or do they hold any worship services on Sunday's? We are very religious and it will be weird not attending a church service on a Sunday morning.

When we were there, on Monday night Discovery Cove brought out animals to the Avenue of Angels and then had Safari Double Dare "interactive game show experience" in the theater. We were at the park so we didn't go to either of them. But there is so much to do at GKTW. We got to GKTW Sunday at 4:00pm. We played mini golf- which all my boys loved- ate ice cream, played at the arcade ( it was small but had pool, air hockey, whack-a mole, ms. pac man, and a few other other games. It was all free and very uncrowded- my boys had fun there. There is so much to explore. We also spent Friday morning until 3:00pm there and wished we had more time there.

The chapel is very pretty but very small. I can't find my bunny book right now ( the book you get that tells you all about the Village) but both my husband and I think we remember seeing that they have a non-denominational service there on Sunday morning. We weren't there on a Sunday morning so we went and had our own little family prayer time.

Hi all! I have been horrible about updating, I am so sorry. I have about 300 pictures to download off my camera just to get to share a handful with you. I will be working on that very soon.

Last weekend we were invited to the parade here in town to sit in the skywalk with other wish families in the warmth and watch the parade go below us. It was wonderful! Nick had a wonderful time because there was a dog rescue group there so he spent the whole time "walking" the dogs. :rotfl: We met some wonderful families! One girls family in particular was so kind.. Ana's family, they just returned from Disney and GKTW this summer and were full of wonderful information.

We will see them again this weekend at the MAW Christmas party, we are really looking forward to it. I still need to download the pics of our first big give gifts! The kids are always running around in their mickey ears! :lovestruc

Nick went to the immunologist for his last dr's visit before our trip. I was concerned because Nick will be due for an IVIG infusion the week AFTER we get back from Disney so his immunity will be pretty low. His immuno is bumping up the dose of his next infusion by quite a bit so he should be okay, but he said Nick will still have to wear a mask in the airport and on the plane. I hope that Nick will do okay with that.

He also said there is no immunologist in Orlando and the closest one was in St. Petersburg, I think? But that he was sending a rolodex of numbers with his file in case he needed them. (that part didn't make much sense to me) :confused3

I am starting to feel like things are getting closer! I just booked Nick's Birthday party for the 28th of Dec (his bday is the 21st).. last day of school before Christmas break is the 19th.. then they go back the 2nd of Jan. OUr going away party is the 9th and then we leave the 19th of Jan. It will all start snowballing soon!

Subscribing...

Your kids are adorable. I read the article about the MAW fundraiser a few weeks ago (Fellow Nebraskan here). I was so excited to find your pre-trip report.

that is cool you get to do so many things with MAW
the parade sounds like a lot of fun

okay.. slight update and some pics.. not all but a few.

We have an advance copy of Nick's itinerary  so that is exciting! We also found out that we get to bring 10 people to Nicks send off party which is a sleepover at the strategic air command and space museum! That is totally awesome!

Okay.. a few random pics.

Here is Nick at the MAW Christmas party. Sorry there are really no good cute ones, I wanted to respect everyone elses privacy there, so basically it is just Nick with part of Kayla in the background.

Nick was also a shepard in the church pagent just about 2 hours before the party, so here he is there.

Sorry for the pic overload??? Are you kidding???

We love, love, love pictures!!! :)

Keep em coming!!

Do you know how to put swirlies on people's faces that you want to hide (for protection purposes?)

:) mary

Amy, I can not get over big ALL THREE are getting....:goodvibes I love the picture if Nick with his pin...:thumbsup2. So how many people asked him about his wish???

I don't think I asked when you talked, but what is the "Big Give"?

That is so neat that Nick's send off party is at the air and space museum. It's such an amazing place.

:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: Let me tell you.. my kids think that there are a few special families out there!

We got a package a long time ago.. sorry I didn't get pics uploaded but I put some on this memory card that will just be easier to download today, from the Sabot (?) family. The kids received awesome Year of a million dreams hats! They love them!

Today, there was a package from jillalvarez2003! Dh had brought the package in and I was still at work. The kids came home from school and Nick always takes a nap when he gets home from school. Poor dh was trying so hard to keep him awake until I got home but then after he opened it he has been bouncing around the house and still hasn't slept!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Getting ready to open

There were 5!!!! Awesome Jack Skellington shirts in there! They are so wonderfully made, I am in awe of the work and dedication! Sorry, dh and I didn't pose for the pics, they all fit wonderfully!!

(I have to say, I love this pic.. I am so blessed that Noah loves his little brother! Most of our friends that have kids the same age, they fight and hate each other and Noah just takes such good care of Nick.)

I wanted to thank you for sending a thank you note. You must be so busy this time of year and you didn't need to send a thank you note. I am glad they like the YOMD ears and I hope they enjoy.
