Niagara Falls, Ontario

Hi Maria
We usually stay at the Hilton (we just stayed there this past week for a conference).
We also stayed an additional night at Four Points By Sheraton,,they have larger suites.
Nice pool and gym on the third floor
Starbucks coffee on Lobby level
East Side Marios and I-Hop-Ruth Chris Steakhouse

I live only 40 minutes from Niagara Falls Ontario Canada.

My other more budget is
Days Inn Clifton Hill
http://www.daysinncliftonhill.com/
some suites have balconies or terraces.
some rooms are courtyard and some are in the main building tower--I prefer the main building tower.
nice small pool
across the street from Casino Niagara.
Applebees restaurant.

You stayed where I am staying at the 4 points by Sheraton. Any advice for me? This is our first time and we are so excited.

Hi Hon
The suite was lovely ,we had an extra person arrive (my 3rd son) and 4 Points By Sheraton was great providing us with a cot at no extra charge. There is ice/vending machines on each floor and my sons enjoyed using the pool and gym.
There is a small arcade on the main level.
There is a subway sub shop across the street and even if you aren't going to the Casino check out the shops,
"The Christmas store " is one of my favorites.
Have a great time

RE 4 Points By Sheraton--one negative that was not a big deal for us was the suite did not have a mini fridge,,now maybe this was just our suite,,just incase this is important to someone.

Thanks so much for the advice!

Glad I found this thread--it's very helpful.

Couple of questions:
Is there any reason to buy a pass to Clifton Hill if we just want to do a roller coaster? I doubt any of us want to get on a ferris wheel.

Is there any sightseeing between Toronto and Detroit?

A few years ago, we took our travel trailer and made a loop around Lake Erie starting West from NE Ohio and ending in Niagara Falls. It was an awesome trip!

Started out staying at East Harbor State park for 2 nights, Stayed at The Pinery up on Lake Huron for 2 nights (prettiest campground I've ever stayed at), then stayed at the KOA at Niagara Falls for 3 nights. My daughters still talk about that KOA and how much they enjoyed it, lol.

The only catch we ran into was that they did make us pull over at customs and open our trailer's door, but it was no big deal.

We are contemplating this route also. We are in Illinois and have been to East Harbor/Marblehead/Lakeside (one of our favorite places!) I'm not sure if we should go around Erie clockwise (Detroit>Toronto>Niagara>East Harbor) or counter-clockwise (East Harbor>Niagara>Toronto>Detroit) ? Maybe it doesn't matter?

I just bought the Niagara adventure pass classic from AAA. 2 adults and 2 kids was $159.00. It includes 2 days of wego. Hornblower cruise, journey behind the falls, Niagara fury and white water walk.
My AAA now has the passes. I called to ask pricing and they said $49 US each (my kids are both 13+, so we're all "adults"). Then I looked at the Canadian site selling them....$54.95 CAD which with the exchange rate ($1.29 as of yesterday) would be about $42 each. Interesting, bc I would have assumed AAA would be cheaper. Guess I'll be buying them online. But thank you for the heads up anyway; it was worth the phone call to find out.

Must be a regional thing. I also called my AAA (Illinois) and they don't offer them.

I just did the math and AAA is still cheaper. It would be $207.68 Canadian online (2A, and 2C) which would be $162.00 US. I paid $159 US at AA.

Wondering whether I should exchange some US currency to Canadian before our trip or should we wait until we arrive?

I'm going to get some from my bank before we go, just to have it. I can always exchange it back if I don't use it, but I don't want the first thing we do is to have to find a bureau de change. We will probably use our debit card for most things anyway though.

Debit or credit card?

My AA also exchanges US to Canadian currency for free. But you must purchase at least $200.00 US.

Any thoughts on the best hotel with a late teenager? We actually prefer a suite set up which gives him his own space...

TIA!

Toddler might enjoy Bird Kingdom.

Just finalized our day in Toronto. We're at the Sheraton Toronto centre. We have our ROM tickets and centreville for the kids. Very much looking forward to it.
