Niagara Falls, Ontario

Hi everyone,

Just read all 11 pages...

Thanks for the info and coupons..

Have a few questions..

I am from Australia so our exchange rate is horrible for Canada dollars and USA dollars....

So if I need to book the Clifton hill pass or the horn blower cruise, where can I get it...
People mentioned aaa but I don't think I can buy from there Costco I can't either...

So is there any suggestions for me..

We are arriving in Toronto on the 27th of June at about 8pm after a very long flight so I think that will be a write off of a night..
Might eat and sleep as this is the start of a five week trip...
Then the next day we have a day to discover Toronto, any suggestions would like to do touristy things related to Toronto...
Then the next day we are going to head to niagaria falls not sure how yet... We are a party of seven so either train or bus or something not sure yet.... Happy for suggestion and how long it will take...
Then spend the day doing all the touristy things boat cruise and behind the falls... Any suggestions happy to hear...
Also any coupons or places to get discounts happy to receive...
We are staying at Sheraton on the falls in Clifton hill, believe it's central...
Then the next day we are free to either look around again or start heading to buffalo airport
We fly out at 6pm
So we can head to the American side and look around there or stay on the Canadian side and just head to the airport later... But have read that the American side has another good tour...
If any one has coupons or discount suggestion happy yet again...
(Only thing is luggage what would we do with them if we go on a tour)
Is it realistic to drop off luggage at the airport then head back to the falls American side... I have no concept of distance and time frame it takes...
From buffalo we head to New York....

Would love to hear any suggestions and things to do for first timers we are a party of 7, 4 adults and 3 children (8,10,12) we really don't need theme parks or water parks as we are spending 16 nights in Orlando doing that there...
We want to do things that are interesting to do there and embrace the country...

Look forward to reading everything and I thank you in advance...

My family of 5 went to Niagara 5 years ago.

If you want to save money on your first night OR every night then stay in Fort Erie. Our room was $50 cheaper for 1 night and is was much nicer. Its about a 25min drive to the falls from there. We only stayed there for our first night driving into the area then stayed on the strip for 2 nights.

On the Mist boat, we were told by a crew member to stand on the right side to the back 1/3rd of the boat. He saw that we had 3 little kids and wanted to get a picture without getting soaked. He told us that most people crowd up at the front and there is no overhead cover for the water. When the boat turns to the left to head back you then get a perfect view to take a picture while not getting as wet.

If you go walking beyond the tourist area above the falls, on the path along the river be careful as there is no fence blocking your access to the river which is within 100 yards flow of the falls. We kept hearing people talking about people falling in the river and down the falls and my wife and I were wondering why...we understood when we saw the path next to the river.

Marine Land was a decent amusement & animal park for my kids...and myself. It had almost no lines for the rides. Also the other cool thing is how close you can get to the beluga whales...you can even feed them a bucket of fish for a relatively cheap price ($8 I think) well cheap for the experience that is.

The Niagara strip was slightly interesting with all the unique attractions. I don't really remember much other than walking down and back up the hill, so I guess it didn't leave much of an impression on me.

I hope someone here helps you.

I just got an alert that Groupon has further reduced the price of the Niagara Falls IMAX and Daredevil Exhibit. If you are interested in this the price is good: $20CAN for two or today only $31CAN for four. Plus you can get 7 Swagbucks back per dollar for Groupon, or Ebates might also have a cashback deal.

Anyone done the IMAX? Trying to decide if I want to buy this offer today.

I'm originally from Niagara Falls, Ontario. Check out Groupon for deals for Niagara Falls. Mick and Anglo's is ok but I would go Chris & Ruth's steak house or the Keg better food. There is tons to do on Clifton Hill museum and arcades. Check our Marinland. I would either exchange your money ahead of time at a bank or use your credit card because not all these places are going to giving you good exchange. We use our credit card because that is the best exchange rate for us but I would call them first to let them know your going out of country.

I found that Sam's Club Travel offers discount on the Adventure Pass.

* @Ngwira I hope you don't mind a bit of hijacking on your original post. This thread just seems like a good landing spot for all the Niagara Falls info. :)

Absolutely not. How much was the discount?

As far as I can tell the full price cost on the Niagara Falls website for the Adventure Classic is $55 for adults and $37 for kids.

On Sam's Club it's $42.04 for adults and $28.26 for kids. Plus on Sam's Club I'd get Swagbucks or other cash back for booking through them.

My AAA doesn't offer Niagara discounts for some reason.

Here is an idea though someone else will know more if it can work. I stayed at Country Inn and Suites at top of Clfton Hill and it was only a mile or so from the border so I'm guessing your hotel is walking distance from the border. Can you get up eat breakfast and check out of your hotel early and ask them to hold your luggage (just about all hotels do this so I assume they would). Then walk over the border to the American side and do Cave of the Winds (we thought it was the absolute best attraction on either side of the falls). Depending on how much time you have maybe also do the trolley ride? Then walk back to the hotel in time for your ride to the airport?

That's about what I paid with AAA. Good deal.

We did the iMax last year. It was interesting and we appreciated learning more about the falls and the people who have gone over.

While everything is overpriced on Clifton Hill, we found the bowling to be reasonable. It was a fun late night activity. My teens and their friends always try to do Nightmares. Most succeed but often with their eyes covered the whole time.

I noticed you erased all of your comments. is the trip off?

No, we are still going in June. We are booked for the Great Wolf Lodge. I have booked everyone in our group for the Firework Cruise as well as it appears that sells out quickly. I haven't made any other reservations just yet. I may just wing it for the rest of the trip as I don't know what the rest of the group will want to do on various days. One family of the group of three may or may not make it on the trip because of work schedule and a sick relative. We are hoping 3 of the 4 can make it (from that family). One will have to stay back to care for the sick relative who needs daily care and no one else to step in to assist.

Ok, just couldn't figure out why all of your past posts were erased....

Funny, we are booked to check in on June 25th for three nights. I wonder if I can get another 25% off. They were already giving us a 20% military discount. :) The website says sale starts tomorrow for Niagara.
