Nexus interviews?

Hi all

Sorry if this has already been asked. I just renewed our Nexus this year. I keep checking but no interview appointments seem to be available. Anywhere. At any time. Does anyone know what's going on?

We have been conditionally approved and have 2 years to get our interview done. in the meantime, do we just use the expired cards?

We renewed last Spring and while me and DH got accepted quickly and received new cards, my daughters need to have an interview done and we haven't received new cards for them. I have until May 2023 to do the interviews and every time I check, there are no available times anywhere except Montana (we live in Montreal)! If we cannot do the interviews before July, we will just bring their old cards and a printscreen of their online accounts that shows they have until 2023 to do the interview.

I renewed all of our cards before expiry and we ALL need interviews. I'm not sure why since that doesn't seem normal.

Hopefully interviews will start up again soon.

I put in my renewal months ago. Expires in a couple weeks. Still awaiting approval. They have extended the expiry date 24 months due to the delays.

To get the 24 month expiry extension, you need to renew online before the cards expires. The extension is to allow you to use your old ‘expired’ card while you wait for the interview as conditionally approved. I was expecting my husband to be required to do the interview since he traveled quite a bit for work internationally but he got accepted right away. I think the kids need an interview because I added their birth certificate to their account and my youngest didn’t have the iris scan done (she was too young) before. Their photo also need to be updated.

I am checking for appointments regularly and this week it’s the first time I see all the locations listed. None have appointments available (looked for YUL, Ottawa and Champlain) but still a good sign. More encouraging than only having Sawgrass, MT listed.

While standing in the Nexus line at Toronto customs last week, a fellow in front of me asked if he could use his expired card. The agent asked him if he had applied to renew before his card expired. Fellow said no, agent said he could not access Nexus line. So it seems if you apply to renew before your card expires, you can continue to use your Nexus.

Thanks! It's reassuring to know that it's not just me I should double check to make sure we all need interviews, but I think we do. Too bad it's not just one or two of us. But at least we have some time before I really need to worry. My kids cards are good into summer so they are ok but mine expires soon and my husband's is expired. I renewed them all before his expiry date.

To my surprise, my Nexus got approved within a week without any interview.

Seems to be no rhyme nor reason to it. Luck of the draw.

I used my expired card multiple times without issue as did my DS. We both applied for renewal prior to expiry. DW was approved for renewal almost immediately after applying. I had to wait about a year but received it this week. No word on DS yet.

If you applied prior to your card expirying you can use it without issue.

I started the process for my kids May 2020 and have had 5 appointments canceled as they kept closing, then opening, then closing the Nexus offices. We have traveled twice with their "expired" cards. They were extended 2 years because of covid and because we started the process before they actually expired. We only have until May 2022 to get an interview before it says we have to start again. I hope they open the offices again soon

On the US Custom's website. Looks like it's only for renewals. Not sure if it's a US citizen only thing. My initial interview was in Fort Erie.

Thanks for this. Just read the details on the link and the likely reason my kids don't have this option is because they're under 18 years old. Nuts.

I'm near the Emerson MB border. The plan is for an April 18/19 reopening. It's not mentioned anywhere...

I applied to renew my global entry on Nov and it got automatically approved this month. No interview required.
On a dif vein, my mom renewed her sentri earlier, like around May and has just gotten an interview for June. It's insane.
