We were getting on the monorail to go into MK from the Grand Floridian yesterday, and the CM asked our party where we were from. We told them that we were from Orlando, and had just celebrated a birthday, and were headed in to enjoy the park.... he said.

You picked a great day. Good thing it's not next weekend. We are expecting BIG crowds. 65,000 people expected in Magic Kingdom. :crowded: One of the other members of our party asked what an an average day was, and he said 35,000.

I am sure that they have data they use to estimate upcoming crowds (resort reservations, etc), for planning and scheduling purposes, so although I know this is not something that is "carved in stone". I thought it was an interesting piece of info, for anyone planning a trip to MK this upcoming weekend - next week.

Orange Cty spring break begins on Friday 3/10 - 3/19. I know this is one local who wll be looking for other activities next weekend!!!

It must be great to live so close by and be able to avoid the crowds whenever they arrive! There's another thread about how crowded the weekend will be. I guess there are cheerleading nationals going on. By the way, are those pink crocs in your signature picture?

Thanks - I missed the other post, I have not been on too much the past two days.

Yes those are DDs pink crocs. I have red ones. We love them!

I forgot about them....... :cheer2: :cheer2: I remember now being there last year one day while they were here!!!:cheer2: :cheer2:

Martha~ Your Crocs look great! I have a pair of the khakis myself. Maybe I'll venture into the bolder colors this Spring! :sunny:

Is that 65,000 in just the MK??, or the whole WDW??
I have NO idea how much this means other than alot of people....How much is capacity at the MK??
OH, and how many of those are cheerleaders??
Anybody know??, I'm new here, sorry for all the ?'s..

Oh no.. we are headed down in 2 weeks from tomorrow.. How long are the cheerleaders going to be there? Just worried about the crowds

Wow!

Now that is crazy numbers forecast - that is well into may have to close the park during the day area

cheers

I am visiting a good friend who lives in Deltona next week.
She will be working on friday(3/17) so I was going to go to DTD that day. Do you think that will be crazy too?

Well.....of course I didn't expect for spring break to be so early. When I was growing up spring break was always around Easter. Which this year is sometime in April. Oh! Well I guess I will be one of the 65,000.

How long does that cheerleading crowd last? We're leaving Friday (3/10) and coming back the following Saturday (3/18), will the crowds be terrible that entire week or just the upcoming weekend?

I am a little confused why they would think high crowds. They have not extended the park hours (except for 3/12). I live in north Florida and our spring break starts on the 17th. Any idea why they think the crowds will be large????

School's out for a week for the entire province of Ontario, and many other places in Canada, when "March Break" begins next Friday. Many, many familes leave earlier by a day or two (or four) as well. With our dollar high, I'll bet that even more than usual will be makiing the trek south.

Well it looks like a combo of many things - cheerleaders, our friends from Canada, and locals on spring break (orange county starts the 10th). I also believe I recall that many school districts in TX have spring break the week of the 13th - 17th.

I was just sharing what a CM told me.... can't validate the info, but thought it interesting, as I had never heard any of them quote numbers.....

There are so many other variables as to when folks take vacations - international visitors, home schoolers, year round school schedules etc.

I looked at airfare into the Orlando/Tampa area to join my DH for an event down there. It was higher next week (3/10 - 3/14) than any other time this Spring. So the airlines know this is a big travel week for whatever reasons.
