Next Food Network Star

Gonna have to go check out her blog. Thanks for that.. never occured to me that the contestants might have them :)
Keep in mind that there are two blogs.

One is her NFNS blog. You can find that on the Food Network website. That's of course relatively short, specific to the process she went through, and therefore relatively new.

The blog you're looking for is aartipaarti.com.

It's funny that you bring all that up, because it's precisely for that reason that I thought she WOULDN'T win! I saw Herb and even Tom as being more marketable. Probably because Indian food is not something I'm even remotely interested in (and neither are any of the people that I spend time with discussing and eating food.) Interesting how are perspectives are so different.

I'd still rather look at Herb

LOL, matches your username!! :goodvibes

I have other Indian Pizza recipes, but I'm wondering if anyone has seen (or caught) Aarti's?

Word is that Tom is getting his own show as well.

That should make even more people happy! :)

I'm disappointed, though, that they're not using PP's idea to call Tom's show DISHeveled.

DW and I always laughed when, during NFNS, they would show "Unemployed Chef" under his name. We thought that would be the perfect title for his show.

I thought this all along. Aarti has all sorts of problems with her self-esteem, it seems. I just can't see her doing what Guy, Bobby Flay, Giada, Rachel, etc. do on a daily basis. .
I'm surprised after reading the following that she has those problems.

http://www.slashfood.com/2010/08/16...of-the-next-food-network-star-aarti-sequeira/

Although it wasn't necessarily made evident during the season, Sequeira is a former producer for CNN who over the last year developed her own YouTube cooking show that just so happened to be called -- yep, you guessed it -- "Aarti Paarti." So even before the season started taping, she was quite used to being around cameras, both from a technical standpoint and in developing an onscreen personality. Consistent throughout the season was her point of view -- the party seeks to fuse Indian flavors with recognizable American favorites, introducing a new way of using spices in the kitchen.

Haha, definitely! I'm a big fan of eye candy :)

Not sure I'll watch but I never miss Melissa D'Arabian (last year's winner). I haven't made anything bad from her yet and I've made almost everything!

Just a reminder: Aarti Party is on 12 noon ET tomorrow.

Although I don't really love her, I have made some of her recipes that have been huge hits with my family!

I have it DVRd, I like her and look forward to seeing the show. I've never eaten Indian food but am familiar with some of the ingredients and it seems like I would like it. I look forward to seeing how she introduces Indian food to a newbie to it like me.

Okay, I watched it. I won't be intentionally watching again. She completely turned me off when she addressed the entire [vieiwing] audience as "honey". I think it was just a bit before the first commercial break.

Give me Herb!! Give me Tom!!! Give me Brad!!! Heck, give me back Brian Boitano!

Oh, I did like her! Yes, there were a few things that annoyed me a bit, kaytieeldr, the "honey" comment was one of them. Plus, I was about to start counting how many times she said "awesome". But I thought she looked great, and even somewhat self-confident. I liked her set. I just thought it was something new and different. I even found myself wanting to try her recipes minus the nuts and mango (allergic). Gosh, looks like Indian cooking can run you a fortune in spices! Anyone know where to buy good garam masala?

I will watch again :)

I really enjoyed her show. She also used an endearment in her pilot, so I don't think it was a big deal. Although I hope as she gets more comfortable, she loses some of the giggle.

Loved the recipes, particularly the "ice cream without an ice maker" one. (Didn't need the "my friends are coming over" conceit; we don't need her to have a reason to cook, other than the show!)

I like the idea of bringing new flavors to traditional dishes; it makes exotic cuisine more accessible. I'm not that crazy about Indian food, but I'll try her recipes!

I got my garam masala from Earth Fare. They had little bags of it and it's really good.

Great show. We'll be watching for sure. That kale salad is a definite.

only minor thing I would have added would be a quick "how-to" addition on slicing the mango.... some people might not realize the size of that big, odd shaped pit, and how best to handle it.... other than that, a good effort for the first show.
