Next Food Network Star

Anticlimactic is an understatement. We've known who was going to win this for some time. At least my streak is intact, since Guy won, every one who has won since is a show I will not watch.

I love Indian food, but, honestly, you can only weave the same ingredients into regular food so many ways. Not sure who I would have picked out of Tom and Herb, but I think they made a mistake.

Well I'm kind of hoping that she will do some pregular Indian food as well and not just always Indian mixed with non-Indian.

We like Aarti...Tom was our favorite though. I'm intrigued because I've never cooked anything even remotely indian before. I do wish the finale had more hooplah though.

I like her, but I don't like Indian food or flavors and won't get anything out of watching her show. While I do think she is comfortable in front of the camera, I don't think she is very outgoing and I think with her point of view and the fact that Indian food doesn't appeal to the masses, you need to have someone with a huge personality to draw people in. Tom and Herb have big personalities that could draw people in no matter what type of food they are cooking.

I would not be surprise to see Herb with a show on the Cooking Channel and/or Tom with either a show like Adam's or at least for him to host a FN special.

That's cool. Everyone's taste is different. We enjoyed Aarti's personality and being a foodie and avid cook, I'm interested to try some stuff I've never done before. It will be interesting to see if she provides that. We really really liked Tom as well. Herb was just so so for us. He was a little overbearing.

I think thats one of the things that is so great about Food Network is the diversity of the shows. There is something for everyone. Personally I wish they had more trained chef's and less "Personalities"

It's difficult to judge them completely because the show is so editted. Many overdubs and a few summerizing sentences about what they have prepared. After all of these weeks, I'm still not sure what Indian food is. I will need to see it in true time when her show airs.

I agree with pp's about a mistake being made. I'd rather watch one of the other 2 but will watch her show once to see what it's about. Before she was announced as the winner, I sort of thought she might make it because of what she's about--Indian cooking.

That said, I'd watch her before the Neeleys or some of the ladies. A few of those ladies have voices that drive me to distraction--nails on a chalkboard!! Ewwwwww. Then again, that's what the mute button's for! To bad there isn't anything to do something about Giada's everlasting smile. Can't stand her continuous grinning. Does she ever frown???

Hahahaha... My husband would say, "she has a mouth"? Because, that is definitely not what he's looking at when Giada is on the screen. Somebody needs to buy that lady some tops that cover the girls.

As for Aarti, blah... just blah. I'll never watch her show. What a let down.

Ugh to Aarti! I definitely won't be watching her show. Tom would have added so much to the network and made a great, fresh show.

I think that I would have watched any of teh finalists but I am glad to see that Aarti won. I am intimidated by Indian food so I hope that she can make it more accessible for me.

I was a little surprised by that ending as well. I was even listening to how the judges talked about the winner, it was different than in the past. I wonder if there has been some criticism that even though there is a winner some of the "losers" end up with positions that are even more lucrative. So one was crowned Star but it was discussed in a way that did not eliminate possibilities for Herb and Tom.

I have to say that I really liked Tom and Herb. Right now I cook some of my own versions of Mexican food but I would love to learn how to use Latin flavors in my meals but know that the fat content has been modified. And then there was Tom! He was so much fun and his food looked so good.

Like it that Aarti won but just based on yesterday it sould have been Tom, even the focus group said so. Aarti fits a void in FN lineup, Tom was too much like Guy and Herb was not up to the mark yet. I bet Tom and Herb get their own show.

Giada was interviewed a few years ago (can't remember the show) and she mentioned that there is a person on her staff who monitors her "cleavage" to make sure there is enough of it to keep certain people watching.

Pretty funny. As a guy who watches A LOT of Food Network, I can say that they do make sure she is always showing her cleavage. However, I'm always more distracted by the fact that her head is GIGANTIC compared to her body. I was just watching Alice in Wonderland the other day, and I kept calling the Red Queen "Giada" because of her large head. :rotfl:

I'm anxious to watch Aarti. I made my first Indian dish off of a youtube video and I loved it.
We can get great Naan thankfully and dipping Naan in that great sauce....ah heaven.
If you think you don't like Indian Food try this with a big piece of Naan to dip.

I'm happy Aarti won. Tom is nice, and maybe can cook well, but FN already has Guy and Aaron, both with the "big flavors." Enough already!

I probably would watch Herb as well, just to get some "healthy" tips. But they already had an "eating healthy" show that didn't go very far (Ellie Krueger's show).

So it's time for something different.

I'm also glad to hear that I'm not the only one who doesn't like Giada or the Neelys! Can we add Sandra Lee to that list, too? Her "budget" show drives me crazy - "That's 83 PERCENT savings!" Can you say, "talking down to your audience"? And then all of her "table scapes" - yeah, I'm supposed to save money but have 34 different sets of dishes/tableclothes/napkins, etc. Please!

HAHA, I could have written this!

I love Indian food and flavors, so I am hoping Aarti can help me out in being able to bring those things to my table. Our fav Indian restaurant closed awhile ago and I swear my boyfriend has been depressed since. Luckily we can get decent Naan at Earth Fare and some simmering sauces, but they are not as good as the real thing.

I HATE the Neelys... well, the chick anyways. I can deal with the guy well enough, but the chick's voice makes me want to throw something at the TV. And don't get my started on Sandra Lee. Just... blah. Ugh. Yuck.

I liked all 3 finalists, which is a first for me on this show, but so thrilled Aarti won it (though I wasn't surprised at all!). I called it halfway through the season. I'm excited to try many of her recipes and think she is different from the other FN shows on right now.

Regarding Giada - I call her a bobblehead. Big head on a little body. Though I will say that's the only FN show that DH willingly watches with me... ;)

I won't watch the Neely's or Ina. Don't get me wrong - Ina's recipes are delicious but her show puts me to sleep faster than a Benadryl.

I'm glad Aarti won! She had the best POV. I just didn't see myself watching a show with the other two. Although I hardly watch the Food Network anymore. After I got pregnant with DD3, I stopped watching cooking shows in the first trimester and never picked it back up. But I can see myself watching a few of Aarti's - just for the Indian influence.
