Next Food Network Star

I was embarassed when Aria said poop shoot to Alton brown I was like... ummm REALLY?!
I couldn't stand Aria's voice Paul's impression of her int he earlier episodes about summed up my thoughts.

Im cheering for Tom though he swung and missed three times at least he went big and tried something new. Im sick of the INdian food...last season they got mad at the one who always cooked Korean yet they aren't like Aarti let go of the Indian occasionally. Whats up with that?

The difference is that Aarti has shown that she can cook well outside of her area of expertise, as well.

I'm rooting for Tom now. Really wanted Brad to win... oh well.

I am rooting for Tom too...he seems like he would be a good fit on FN..

I can not STAND Aarti..and her Aarti Party...everytime I hear it..I cringe and wanna rip my hair out...

If she were to win I imagine the name would change. Aarti Party sounds like a show on Nick Jr.

That is what I like about her. She has been able to add Indian flavor to traditional dishes.

I'm not even sure the name of the show would necessarily change. I think the name would attract far more people than it would deter.

Aarti fills a niche that Food Network is missing. Herb fills a niche that Food Network might be missing (I don't know how many of their Latin shows have succeeded). Tom - not so much. Nice guy, good cook, no real POV. His show would be too much like Guy and Aaron.

I think, unless she totally bombs, Aarti's got it. Indian food is the new trend. And the name of her show would certainly change.

:rotfl: and I like her for the same reasons. I have to admit that there is something that bothers me about most of the FN stars (except for Tyler :lovestruc) but I watch them because I want to cook what they cook. I hope Aarti wins because I do like Indian and dh loves it but I absolutely hate to cook it, she would make it easy. Indian for Dummies :)

That said, I wouldn't believe for a second that any Food Network show is filmed/taped beginning to end with no errors, cuts, or editing (not even 30 Minute Meals ;)). If Herb wins, and stumbles on a line, the scene can be redone, no?

Yes, that's kind of what I was getting at. I really, really hope he wins.

I'm a little put off by what Aria said about Tom in that interview. And she can say what she wants about the editing and the noise, but I got the distinct impression that Alton wasn't impressed with her. On the other hand, I find it interesting that on the after party, both she and Serena said that they wanted Herb to win. I think of the three, Herb is the most marketable. And obviously the best looking. That has nothing to do with my wanting him to win, of course... :rolleyes1 Herb's background is also the kind of thing people like to watch. Marcus Samuelsson may be an incredible cook, but I think it's his story that people are originally drawn to. It's hard not to be drawn to them.

And... there is currently an Indian food show on The Cooking Channel. I'm not 100% convinced that they care enough about adding indian food to the menu (you like how I did that? :p) to choose Aarti based strictly on her POV.

I beg your PAHdon....

What is Herb's POV? Is he cooking latino food or healthy food. or a combo of both? I jut realized that I have been completely ignoring Herb

I kind of disagree. I get that he was a little fat kid growing up. Move on.

That drives me crazy as much as Aarti saying, "oh you like me?! You really like me?!"

Fake it people. But I also am one of those rare people who don't really care about the story, I just care about good food and recipes that are easy to recreate. It drives me crazy when they have them cater to a group of 100...when would the "home cook" ever do that? The only exceptions are the Neelys (sorry, I find them hilarious...they add cayenne to everything!) and Sandra's Semi-homemade (which I also find hilarious...cocktail time! and the tablescapes!! :rotfl: )

Precisely... it is such a good idea for a name, that it is effectively already used. (And that would be a good reason for them to change the name of her show.)

I thought all 3 of them did great in their pilots. I don't think there is anyone I wouldn't watch but I don't think I'd become a follower of Tom. I would watch Herb or Aarti every week.

The ending was so anticlimatic. What happened to the confetti, friends & family, and general feeling of excitement?

I agree.....in the past they have annouced the winner in front of all the other contestants and in front of an audience with their families.

I am not surprised by who won, but I was hoping someone else would pull it off. Out of the pilots there was only one that I would watch and it wasn't the winner's.

We like Aarti...Tom was our favorite though. I'm intrigued because I've never cooked anything even remotely indian before. I do wish the finale had more hooplah though.

I'll watch it once - as I said earlier, I'll watch anything instead of the Neelys :teeth:, but I think they made a mistake.
