I think my husband and I are the only two people in the world who do not get the big deal about TSMM. We've ridden it a few times and just don't get it. And I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Toy Story movies.
There are only 2 rides at Hollywood Studios for children under 40": GMR which is not worth a re-ride for the majority of people and is either boring or scary for many children or TSMM. So basically everyone with a small child in their party will ride TSMM.

Older children and adults who don't like thrill rides don't have many other options either. Star Tours - causes motion sickness for many. ToT - need to be OK with heights/drops. RnRC - fast start, inversions, and blaring music keep many away.

Added to the fact that TSMM encourages multiple rides in order to better your score or beat others in your party... A good ride turns into a huge deal.

We have small children and we still don't get it! But I guess that's partially why DHS is a half day park for us or we skip it altogether.

Says a lot about the lack of family rides at DHS. It's similar to Soarin's case at Epcot. If you go to California, both TSMM and Soarin' rarely have more than a 30-45 minute waits. They need to increase the number of family rides at those places.

This is why, despite complaints in some quarters about the lack of an E-Ticket, Toy Story Land is so important to balance out the park.

I am 100% with you.

I think the obsession...90 minute waits and lauding for adding another track 7 years after opening...with midway is just a symptom of the "bad consumerism" that has taken over in wdw and cost all of us a fortune for the last 10 years - in particular.

I like the ride...I think it's good quality and a solid ride.

But that's just it...it was a solid addition 7 years ago...which used to be the development pattern in parks. Add something new, pump it for a year or so...then move on to the next thing.

It's insane...that park has had multiple closures, no additions, and endless tinkering with frozen and cupcake upsells since midway opened...

I link the two things together to result in a lowering of expectations and consumer exploitation. Just my two.

I like the idea if they do it with rare characters, but the "staples" need to stay put and let people plan their interactions. Welcome to Disney where you need to plan everything in advance, but we will throw in some random stuff just to keep you off balance! Have a magical day and thanks for the $10/person for missing your ADR that you booked half a year ago.

That's how we feel. We've ridden it twice and usually just skip it. We definitely don't think it's worth the long wait times. Neither did our little one. I don't think it's any more fun than Buzz at MK, which has lower wait times for obvious reasons. I agree it's a solid ride just not one I'd run at rope drop to do, even though we have a small child.

Ready for the expansion!!!!

There was a lot of talk when the trailer for the PBS Documentary WALT DISNEY came out. Now that it has aired, what are your thoughts?

We have it recorded and have only watched the first 2 hours so far.... I read the book years ago, and from what I can remember, this is following it very closely, showing the good, the bad and the ugly of Walt's life and dream. So far, I like it...and we can probably cancel the "Marceline to Main Street" tour we have scheduled next month...,lol.

The PBS documentary was an uneven production with a political bent. The documentary focused too much on the animation productions (with a few rather "too long" sections) and not enough on the live action creations.

The Davy Crockett section featured title performer Fess Parker without him being mentioned by name; Disney's love of trains was manifested in the 1956 feature "The Great Locomotive Chase" without it even being mentioned; the Mickey Mouse Club was never fully explained (why was it made, what was its impact on pop culture, etc.); and the historians' pseudo pansophist Zeitgeist comments said more about the commentators than Disney (weren't more folks who actually worked for Disney available for interviews?).

Despite the PBS production...we heading back to WDW for trip #69!

All the best! :thumbsup2
