News Round Up

I don't know the source (it was posted without one on WDWMAGIC) but it sounds interesting. In other news, you may have noticed a new lengthy rehab is also planned for the Liberty Tree Tavern that will see the restaurant closed for almost 5 months (July 6 to Nov. 20). I'm told that the focus of the work here isn't on the restaurant itself, but rather a complete redesign of the kitchen area that will transform it into a new multi-use kitchen area that will service not only the Liberty Tree Tavern, but an all new restaurant concept planned to open in the old Verandah space at the entrance to Adventureland. This is apparently the main reason why Tinker Bell was moved out of the building and sent to her new Main Street digs. While the concept may still be a bit fluid, the overall concept from what I understand is that it will be themed to tie into the Jungle Cruise theme. In short... imagine a crazy Adventureland themed restaurant staffed by the Jungle Cruise Captains as a way to pay the bills when they are in-between jobs, and to expand their bad comedy into the realm of the culinary arts.

I will also add that Disney has filed permits for work on the kitchen at liberty tree so that part of this rumor is confirmed. It's been said now by many sources that the second part at least the verandah opening as a restaurant is happening.

Certainly a cool idea. Nothing overly complicated in terms of technology or gimmicks. Should be a relatively "easy" thing to create. If it falls out of vogue, it would be an easier re-theme.(edit) replying to a jungle cruise theme for a dining area.

Wasn't that already reported?

Or was it crofton?

Either way...again...this is not necessarily a bad thing for Disney...

She had her face up on the walls at team d, d u, etc 15 ish years ago...

And the guest experience has shrunk/declined on the whole since those days...

Is that an Indictment?
At least a partial one

Disney understands me so well! Get rid of the that pesky nighttime entertainment, what I really want to do when I'm on vacation is buy overpriced sunglasses and high end shaving products! :thumbsup2

On the bright side, how long until SSR prices start to drop?

Damn...

The consensus continues...

I was really hoping that "Disney springs"
Would not be an overbudgeted version of Orlando premium outlets...

But this "news" has not helped me out there..

I guess I'll enjoy running past those kiosks at 7 am if I stay at Saratoga??

I am stoked for the bridges...does that count?
Can Disney get a profit projection based on that nugget?

Now here's an idea I like. MK could still use another restaurant, and this is an imaginative idea that if it were to come to fruition, and were done right, could be a total home run. Also, with it in Adventureland, and tied thematically to the Jungle Cruise, they could even incorporate...dare I say...some old Adventurer's Club elements if they wanted. But that's setting the bar too high.

This I agree with...

Mk could use 5 new restaurants - if the plan is to push attendance over 20 mil annually...and not invest anything in attractions ( well... That's how it is...if you want to look at the clues)

See? Not all news is bad!

Crofton left but this was her right hand woman apparently who is now also leaving.

Height test balloons were spotted behind Toon Town at Disneyland today. This is the spot where they are supposedly building a Star Wars addition.

Olaf is rumored to come to DHS for a meet and greet replacing Hiro and Baymax who will be leaving soon.

We're cruising in June! My daughter will be ecstatic! ...and I'll be glad not to have to wait in another 3 hour line at Norway. :)

Perk reduction for AP holders.

http://www.wdwmagic.com/other/annua...-world-mini-golf-courses-and-boat-rentals.htm

Mini gold discount drops from 50% to 15%.

"Nickel and Dime"-ing at it's finest.

# of AP holders that will complain - many
# of AP holders that will stop buying an AP - zero

Revenue increase due to change - probably < $50,000. Nickels and Dimes.

That's said, they've taken nothing away from me. We've only ever had an AP once, and never rented a boat or played mini-golf at WDW, so I think it's a good move instead of taking away something I might actually use.

Loss of AP discount on mini golf means I won't buy an AP unless I know for a fact we are going more than our regular one-trip per year. 50% discount was huge and we took advantage of it probably 5 or 6 times during our 10 day trips. This alone made the cost of an AP over a 9 or 10 day ticket worth it. If no second trip is planned, no AP will be bought.
