News Round Up

Just as an update...Star Wars is now going to open on 4,000+ screens.

It seems that the industry experts were using the low end estimates on both the size of the release AND the pre sale receipts.

They are probably being intentionally reserved after Lucas made them look like damn fools
In 1999.

Okay this one is firmly in the rumors category, but over at WDW Magic someones dropping hints that maybe, just maybe there are a few potential plans for Epcot?

Again I stress rumors, all subject to change, might come to nothing. Still it would be nice to think that they might at least be talking about updating the park.

Yes Martin says in very early stages. May not even come to fruition.

Mine train is fine for what it is...

It should NOT be presented as a feature ride with an insane wait. That's not what it is and it's kinda embarassing for Disney and the customers.

Here's what I see as a pattern:

MGM:
Tower 1994, rockinroller 1999, nothing since.

Epcot:
Test track 99, mission space 2003, soarin 2006, nothing since

Ak:
Open 98, Everest 05, nothing since

MK:
Splash 92, tomorrow land redo 96, mine train 13.

Draw your own conclusions...but the "Disney's not about that" excuse is too convenient.
Very hard to fight stale in a themepark...no Matter how many character breakfasts you have and how many cupcake parties

For thrill attractions I agree. But even US seems to be following that success formula from WDW.

That said, if we had to pick our WDW trips to only include attractions/shows added AFTER a park opened-or only enjoy attractions/shows when a park opened, it would be the added after, one Million to zero and growing.

I particularly liked the society of explorers room. There are some really nice details in there from what I could see.

They'll never admit it...but it almost seems like they took the very vocal criticisms of closing a cult favorite in mind when they designed the place...
...a tiny olive branch - if nothing else

Oh - this is my favorite type of rumor:
"Something big might be happening sometime off many years in the future, but it isn't a sure thing."

Way to go out on a limb there with sharing.

I think bigger news would be if everyone thought Epcot was just fine - because that park is a bit of a hot mess right now.

I wonder when the "conversion" announcement is gonna officially come?

I would love points at wildnerness lodge...
...wait aminute - price is laughable - Nevermind ;)
Poly was well underway before they officially announced so it may be a while yet.

Well the rumor is that imagineering is really starting to see that Epcot is a hot mess and is going to be a hot mess. They aren't planning for a DHS style makeover or anything either but some significant enhancements or changes would be likely.

To Pete's point...you kinda just doubled down on the exact same type of "rumor"

"The phantom menace" thinks there's a problem and starts construction of the Death Star...but nobody knows anything because they're all sworn to secrecy...and it's being built in a galaxy far, far away...

These types of "rumors" allow 100% flexibility for everyone and their mother to wiggle in and out of and twist it in the wind

(And yes...there will be Star Wars puns all week"
