How do you know this?

I don't know this - but based on past costs - there's no way that TSL and SWL are $2.8 Billion. FLE was in the neighborhood of $500 million. So is avatarland. Toy Story land is not as expansive as either of those. Star Wars land may be MORE - but again, not anywhere near $2.8 Billion. One more land is great? But again, won't get you near that $$ total.

Again, it doesn't matter what they spend - getting these new things is fantastic. I just hate when fans latch onto a cost rumor like this that is clearly out of whack.

In other words as I suspected all along - the "$2.8 billion" rumor is BS. Toy story land is high end $300 million, And Star Wars land might be $500-700 million, so where's the other $1.8 Billion. Parking structures?

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate what IS being put in, but I never really believed that figure. Just goes to show the more reliable "sources" aren't really that reliable.
No 2.8 is still the number. Toy story, Star Wars, phase 3, parking and other things all add up to 2.8 billion. Phase 4 would be extra if they end up doing it or not. Lots of little stuff can add up like new shows, entertainment, and refurb a to existing attractions.

If they're building parking garages for studios...I would think that means new traffic flow and possibly an expansion of the "Lucas" area into the existing service/parking lot area.

Even of they don't keep the stunt show, mama melrose, muppetvision, etc...what sense would it make to build over top of it if they are planning on drastically increasing the attendance - which is a given.

MGM was never meant to handle 15,000,000 customers...never. It was a converted EPCOT building with a half cocked Eisner idea to build "Hollywood east". Not to handle fastpass+

One of the rumored layouts for Star Wars was essentially from Echo Lake backwards to where Star Tours currently is (and taking in some current parking lot). That would mean Indiana Jones going but not much else of significance. I imagine the restaurants would be re-themed.

One of DHS biggest problems has always been the logjams the layout creates, I would hope as part of this they fix that.

Interesting - went to WDW's Web Site.... they have several of these scheduled on XMAS PARTY nights in November. That doesn't work - waiting for WDW to get it's act together.

Why doesn't it work? At the end of the article it states:

"Please note on Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and Mickey’s Very-Merry-Christmas Party nights, the fireworks display will be Happy HalloWishes or Holiday Wishes—Celebrate the Spirit of the Season, not “Wishes” Nighttime Spectacular."

That's because Disney wants even more revenue on party nights even if it's a hard ticketed event.

I think what Pete is saying is how much of that big, grandiose number can be attributed to Infrastructure?

They're needed - no doubt - but that doesn't add any value to the ticket/experience. Unless a light above your parking space really blows your
Rocks...

I'm also surprised you are sticking/trusting that "2.8" number as much as you are, my young apprentice...

Have they earned that kinda trust?

Certainly not in fantasyland...not with the mothball period at pleasure island...animal kingdom is yet to be seen.

I think skepticism on their budget is just as warranted as the timeline.

I understand where you are coming from. I think like Pete said cars will be in that 300-400 million range. Star Wars is likely to be more along the lines of avatar so 700+. That puts us at 1.1 already. Add in phase 3 which could be anywhere from 200-500 million if not more depending on what they do. This park is likely to see a lot of new entertainment and shows. Possible a parade returns to this park or a new nighttime show. These little things start to add up as well. I would put the infrastructure at around 1 billion but not much more than that.

I understand...but you realize you're shooting billiards in the dark on this one?
I know but from what I understand infrastructure will include much more than just new parking garages. We are looking at new entrance arrangements, roads, bus stops could change, in park infrastructure, CM parking moving, on stage areas becoming back stage areas etc.

he s sticking with it because the guys saying those numbers are pretty much dead on all the time, so if multiple guys are saying it who are pretty much right all the time ill go with their number
you cant have a TSL and a Star wars land and then keep the LMA theater and back of the park the same...something is changing back there
