Voyage of the Little Mermaid refurb was cancelled and is open as normal for now...
Is this the show at MGM or the ride in Magic Kingdom? I thought the ride at Magic Kingdom was scheduled for the same refurb that Disneyland got a while back or has that already been done?

If they're building parking garages for studios...I would think that means new traffic flow and possibly an expansion of the "Lucas" area into the existing service/parking lot area.

Even of they don't keep the stunt show, mama melrose, muppetvision, etc...what sense would it make to build over top of it if they are planning on drastically increasing the attendance - which is a given.

MGM was never meant to handle 15,000,000 customers...never. It was a converted EPCOT building with a half cocked Eisner idea to build "Hollywood east". Not to handle fastpass+
Indiana jones is slated to go. Muppets is said to likely stay for now at least.

This is the show at DHS. The Magic Kingdom Under the Sea with the Little Mermaid ride had its refurb and got the DCA upgrades earlier this year I believe it was in March.

Maybe it's cheaper to bust out into the parking lot and build show buildings and a garage out there than it is to disentangle and rebuild the existing "inside the berm" park layout.

That, plus the fact that the site is pinched by wetlands on 1 side and highways on 2 more sides, demonstrate what a rushed job Disney MGM was.

Nothing wrong with a garage, nice to have a car parked in the shade instead of the Florida sun. As long as there isn't too much walking.

I imagine that they're thinking this will give DHS a "IOA-Harry Potter" type boost. I was thinking that this might have been partly inspired by trying to equal/beat the hype (and package holiday bookings) of USF+IOA+Volcano Bay but either Disney's timing is off, or they don't care. Volcano Bay should erupt in 2017 and the Fly the Falcon allegedly not until 2021.

2020 :)

However I just read something interesting. The plans apparently have the toy story entrance going up until the VoTLM building. One mans dream and sparrow get demolished as that will be the space for the entrance. Mermaid is speculated to not necessarily get demolished now but leave for something new entirely. No word on what that could be.

Also DHS is supposedly getting two parking garages similar to Disney Springs. Construction on those garages won't start until Disney Springs is completed. October 1st, 2015 is when the budget for DHS starts to go into effect so we should see construction start then for toy story.

A new show could be good. Mermaid is a little long in the tooth now. Let's just hope it's not Frozen-related. One show per park is enough.

The parking garages have been rumored for a while. I think I heard them being discussed back in May. I love the shade of a parking garage. Nice place to take a nap in the car too.

I like the Muppets movies and TV shows, but the Muppets attraction is terrible. They could easily redo the show in the same theater. Indiana Jones needs a little updating, but it's still a pretty spectacular show when everything is running.

Personally, my family isn't too big on most of the shows at any parks, so I am not too disappointed to see them go. We really only even hit the shows that we do like, LMA and Indy, every other visit. The funny thing is that two of our favorite things at MK are Enchanted Tiki Room and Carousel of Progress, which are really sort of shows:confused3 I think it's the live action ones, particularly with a lot of over-the-top girly singing that we don't like much.

In non-Disney related news, Ubisoft announced they are building a brand new theme park in Malaysia based on their most popular franchises like Assassin's Creed, Rayman, Far Cry, etc. It is expected to open by 2020.

It seems like new theme parks are popping up everywhere these days. Can't say I wouldn't love to ride an Assassin's Creed attraction. Maybe they'll even have an unfinished/glitched attraction for us ;)

A little competition never hurt! Maybe some of the skyrocketing prices will even out if there are more choices for folks...

Maybe an extra $15 to experience "more" of the ride? Gotta love DLC ;)

DHS rebranding has 4 phases essentially. Phases 1-2 are known. 3 is the third land or mini land depending on what gets built. 4 if it happens is not currently in the budget or green lit so we may never see this phase.

In other words as I suspected all along - the "$2.8 billion" rumor is BS. Toy story land is high end $300 million, And Star Wars land might be $500-700 million, so where's the other $1.8 Billion. Parking structures?

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate what IS being put in, but I never really believed that figure. Just goes to show the more reliable "sources" aren't really that reliable.

Thoughts? At the Magic Kingdom, Darth Vader and Darth Maul character appearances at Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party? Even though there are other opportunities to meet them. I doubt it would happen, I would be so pumped to see them at MNSHP.
