Do you not just think this might be them learning something from Universal? Everyone and their brother complained about the length of time from the NFL announcement & the actual implementation, and compared it to the time from announcement to implementation of HP. Maybe they've learned to keep things a little more under their hat, even though it's still being whispered.
I suppose that could be an explanation. Then again, they seem to be doing the exact opposite with Star Wars Land. If they were really interested in shifting strategies to be more in line with Universal, I doubt we'd be seeing Iger talking at every public appearance about all the things coming. He even said it would be a while before they opened not matching Universal's way of announcing late.

Though definitely a plausible idea for sure.

I think they have and will continue to study the hell out of putting in a prt or light rail type scenario...it would increase efficiency and allow for much better integration of the hotels with the parks...

And lets not forget that while the property is large - the parks and guest areas are not that far apart... Basically a triangle shape as currently situated that has each side measuring 4-5 miles each....

More efficiency and customized options would give customers more time to play with...and you know what that means...

But...big but...public stock - everytime they do a study, they cringe at the costs and order more buses. That's a bigtime tough hurdle to clear. If the "old men" hadnt been in charge until 1984 - you would not have see a monorail in Florida. It's a loser compared to cheaper options.

They probably had the opportunity to get some paid by government grant over the last. 30 years...but Disney always whines when the city/state wants any of the proposed systems to connect to the convention center area and the people in Florida don't understand that all those projects get voted down to keep any decent wage jobs at a bare minimum...
The hotels integration is the best reason they've got for doing it. Unless they make several of the resorts hook up you'd have to park at one of the Gates or connected areas then transfer onto the train and go to your destination.

Hotel connection does complicate the route a little. What hotels and properties make the cut? Which aren't worth it?

I know that JHM said once long ago Disney was looking at something like this.

Update: This transit system looks like heaven for Disney.

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/ULTra_(rapid_transit)

It's basically a glorified driverless car that runs on an average road with small barriers on either side. 5-8$ million per kilometer which is cheap. All battery power so Disney can claim they're being green and innovative all at once. While it's not really talked about I'd imagine since individual pods are just like cars, and the route are just roads they could actually change routes and be repurposed to fit multiple transit lines.

See that's just the thing about the roots. They did a nice social media push and article on inconsequential stuff like the roots. Where's the banner and celebration for the third screen and track? These aren't small upgrades, they're known to beat stuff of this grade to the ground.

Hmmm...I looked up "small things" in the dictionary...and the definition was "additional track to displace lines at parks with pathetically little to do (made obvious thanks to the magic of fastpass+) in lieu of adding new, net positive attractions"

FYI ;)

Permits filed for adventureland verandah today which is rumored to become a new restaurant

On the easier said than done side, I think exclusive roads for buses (or whatever the mode of transport is) is the key to success. No matter what it is, it will need rights of way over or under existing roads.
The perception of waiting for transport will always be a challenge, unless you have a people mover or ski lift type of ride as your transport. People will always want direct access to the park of their choice, so connecting through a hub would be a challenge.
For a light rail loop, I'd try to connect POR, DTD, south side of CBR, DHS , AK and the transportation center. I puts the remaining two parks on a rail line, and connects the moderates. It would be a longer loop so not a convenient as the monorail for the premium resorts. Somewhat close enough to a few of the value properties to be valuable. Connects DTD into everything. Considering you'd never really take the full loop at once, and assuming traffic moving in both rotations, you are probably looking at 30 minute movement times as a guess, maybe 45.

pie in the sky idea though.

Not a rumor any more. The permit specifically labels it a restaurant. The question is, which (if any) of the rumored themes will it have?

Hey what's that building behind The Hat? Is that new....??

But seriously, it'll be really nice to see the Theater from that vantage again. Just like ole times.....

Apparently CMs have been getting questions like that or asking what attraction are they building in front of the GMR.

Wow, that really shows how much that Hat didn't fit. To hide the Theater which is a pretty impressive icon in itself.....

Yea, the 60th stuff was incredibly accurate. Impressive.

The thing that got me as I read today's update was just how expensive the tires were. Nearly 100 million? Then another 1 million to add beach balls and sound? I had known WDI had troubles keeping costs down but that's ridiculous. How much longer can the institution survive at this rate? It's had multiple near death calls. They need to be more cost effective and responsible or else their jobs and the storied history could go out the window.
Well, Luigi is from Italy .... maybe that was in Lira?

They could most certainly do a Adventures Club theme, but a rebirth of the actual Adventurers Club wouldn't work there.

Oh, good Lord no.

Tripping over strollers to say Kungaloosh!!!! with a bunch of 5 year olds while lifting a glass of whatever non-alcoholic "Special Brew" they're shlepping (in it's $10.95 souvenir cup, of course!) would be just about enough to get Dante to add a 10th Circle of Hell to the Inferno...

I'm with clsteve. Adventurer's Club as a MK quick service restaurant sounds awful. If I can't at least get a drink and salute the colonel, forget it.
