News Round Up 2020

anyone wondering why they had so many n95 masks? They got construction yes but that’s seems like a lot. Anyone think they were buying extra because they knew what it will be like since they have parks in China? Wonder how many they still have and what is their normal inventory of n95 masks.
great they donated it.
Could be several reasons. They do have onsite health care as well. Park first aid as well as I believe there is an onsite clinic for cast members. Maybe they had purchased more to donate too. Not sure on all the details there.

N95 masks are used for a variety of different tasks. Construction, maintenance, parking lots, in non-routine conditions, etc. These masks are normally utilized for particulate management such as dust or dirt. I manage Safety in a pet food manufacturing plant and keep a high number on hand myself to protect my workers. We have another large shipment coming "soon". I have ordered some N/R/P 99s and 100s to get us through until the shipment arrives.

I.....had no idea there were still states that this hadn't happened in. Wow.

Luckily, in Austin, we ignore the state and do what we feel is right. Most cities/counties in Texas have done this on their own too. He sort of announced a sort of stay at home. I think the Texas governor has a fear of commitment :rotfl2:

Disney buys Formula 1? A race at WDW may be coming.

I am thrilled unless this is a sad joke.

Not bloody likely! That would be terrible. I don't think Disney really knows how to handle sports, particularly autoracing.

We had a pack at home that we donated. My husband is highly allergic to poison ivy. Whenever it starts growing in the backyard, he cracks out the tyvek, n95 masks, and duct tape and goes to work. If you breath in poison ivy dust, it can damage your lungs.

I really wonder what ships those are. I assume at least some of those are the HAL ships headed towards Florida.

I had a cruise scheduled for next week. After news of the Grand Princess broke and before RCL was offering anything, I decided there was zero chance I was getting on the ship even if I lost 100% of my suite booking. I was really afraid of being in a situation where we wouldn't be repatriated and be left on a ship with a massive outbreak and basically no medical support. Seems like what the HAL ships are going through right now.

I love cruising and feel real bad for the situation they are in, but I don't see them returning to normal any time soon. I think Disney will be open long before the cruise lines.

Disney World alone has over 77,000 employees. It doesn't seem all that unreasonable to me given everything that they do and how they have to buy them.

A few states still have no restrictions: Arkansas, both Dakotas, Nebraska, and Iowa. Some states have restrictions in areas but not statewide: Texas, OK, WY, UT, Miss, GA, and SC.
From my understanding of the OK order, as soon as a county has a single confirmed case it is automatically included in the order. So, while not great, a lot better than same of the other states. Although I went to a state park this weekend and the campgrounds were absolutely packed. I couldn't believe they were still open. We did a hike and were able to stay away from people, away from the house for 5 hours without using the bathroom 😲 .

Pretty sure GA finally issued one today, also.

be honest you went in the woods. I do it all the time at a state park near me. You got to go you got to go. From November 1 to March 31 bathrooms are closed. They were closed yesterday because of the virus who knows when they will open.

Magic Kingdom is filled with asbestos in the tunnels. I've never seen anyone wearing a mask down there though. Obviously it's not a risk as long as it's not disturbed. But maybe any construction project that requires demo in MK requires wearing one?

Not just the MK. Asbestos was a routine thing to apply in construction for many years. Disney also has resorts and support buildings that are old enough to have asbestos in them. Also, many current construction and demolition project require the use of protective gear under current OSHA guidelines.

But, as to the number of masks Disney has I'm wondering if all they did was to pay for a shipment of masks to be sent to the disaster relief agencies. They didn't necessarily have to come for on-hand stock.
