News Round Up 2016

The staircase leads from the lobby to the DVC unit...

I'm not disagreeing with you guys...people will pay for a matter of feet and break their arms patting themselves on the back afterwards...

But amenities "in the building" is so weak...

Like for those 11 days a year that the weather drops below 75?

Maybe we have a regional definition discrepancy with the word "staircase"...... If it means long covered exterior walkway in LOL land, then yes that one.:)

Location in the resort has always been an upsell.... again, historically speaking.... A frame of the contemporary as opposed to the garden wings....even if it is weak in some cases. I wouldn't pay the current price of ownership but guaranteed the if I ever book at WL again I would be booking in the new section. IMO better location. The existing villas at WL and BC are like they build them for Drunkle Joe who comes to all of your family functions who everyone hopes stays out of the pictures.

And to save on utility costs they have increased the number of days under 75 degrees to 14 this year.

I don't get the complaint about the DVC wings being "off to the side". You do realize people in the WL are paying $300-500 a night for a hotel room, while the DVC people are likely paying a third of that price.

Yes, I don't doubt that part of the selling point for the cabins may be "it's in the main hotel" but they are also going to be charging tens of thousands of dollars more for that 200 feet of convenience.

Great explanation...as I understand it GotG may be in one of the Infinity Wars movies with the Avengers, but they would stay GotG. Just a simple crossover, which happens in the comic books frequently. Now more interesting is would it be possible for an Avenger to jump ship and join GotG and then WDW could use them? ... couldn't be Cap or Hulk...but maybe one of the others? just tossing that out there

This is pretty humorous ... the kind of deep fan discussions that typically revolve around comic book characters and stories, suddenly getting elevated to the level of intense boardroom meetings and legal disputes. "What if the Hulk battled Batman but in an alternate universe that has no Mississippi river to be east of ... could we legally build a ride in Singapore based on the story or would we have renegotiate the royalties with J.R.R.'s heirs first?"

Hmmm...I checked out the times guide on their site as well. Looks like they are sticking with all the other nighttime entertainment - the dance parties, the Tree of Life lighting..the Safari operating until closing...etc...but of course no ROL. I wonder without the "showstopper" if they are really getting a lot of people sticking around in the evenings.

This is something I would be willing to do. It makes so much sense. They make big profits on the bucket, and still make money on the refills throughout the stay. We would probably fill it half a dozen times, and wouldn't even buy it to begin with otherwise.

I don't completely understand why they don't have a refillable soda mug for the parks as well. I suppose the issue there is waiting in line for the refills at the QS restaurants - since they don't have self-serve soda machines.

They don't offer the refillable mugs or drinks per Orange Co health code. It doesn't allow Disney to take anything back over the counter. If self service machines were in the parks like at the resorts then it wouldn't be an issue, but that isn't the case. Even the popcorn buckets technically speaking aren't allowed to be done but a certain way. CMs we're trained to tell the guest to place bucket open on counter, then they will poor the popcorn in with a scoop withou the scoop coming in contact at all with the bucket. Then the CM is to instruct the guest to take the bucket, the CM cannot touch it. However I have heard from my friends at DHS that they have already been cited by the private health company Disney contracts for CMs not doing the process properly. It's all a bunch of politics...
