Yeah - economy is going too well for them to offer much anymore. This is a carrot they can keep in their back pocket for a future downturn. Partly why I bought into DVC was I could see the writing on the wall for free dining. More restrictive and less often every year it seems.

A crying shame if true. I am an adventurous eater and was looking forward to trying their fare. If people want bland and boring, Liberty Tree Tavern is a fine choice.

kinda wish Disney would just come out and say due to demand at the resorts we are not doing Free Dining this year .... People would be disappointed but at least they know rather than jumping through hoops in hops of maybe getting one of these limited offerings

This can be good or bad. It should be very simple to add a grilled chicken dish (no spices) and a mac and cheese dish (no spice, normal cheese) as 2 options for kids, since they already carry all that food except for possibly the right cheese, and then add them in double size at double price on the adult menu under a "Tenderfoot Tastes" icon or something similar (so they can avoid adults all trying to get the kid items). They don't have to change the other parts of the menu (except to improve the dishes most people complain about). When I go to ethnic restaurants, kids' menus normally have at least 1 "normal" kids meal (normally nuggets b/c I'm sure they just have a bag of prepped ones) and then 2-3 ethnic less spiced ones. I was surprised Disney didn't do that here originally.

I can't wait for the placeholders to cancel their reservations and create a 30% resort discount.

Yes - I was up at 4 am when it went live trying for the RO discount (which also dropped at that time) for October. I was able to update to the offer for my existing room (Preferred Pool at POP), but there was not any availability at all for POFQ or POR which was what I was hoping to switch to...I guess it works out because I end up saving about $150 versus paying about $50 more to go to one of the PO resorts...but I really wanted to try out PO lol.

I wish we would have done this. I was at Universal, pining for WDW. Being able to go back to our WDW resort and even having some more evening park time would have been so much better. I was so underwhelmed and felt 'stuck' at Universal, wishing we had just done 3 more Disney days. Visiting Uni and returning 'home' would have been ideal, I think.

Yea not interested in sitting around after US closes, knowing that's not thunder in the background-but Star Wars Fireworks, Fantasmic, Wishes or Illuminations a mere 20 minutes away.

We did the same thing before FP+, but now its even that much better with FP+ adding attractions to the night shows.

I guess there's no chance of Off Kilter returning? One of my favorite WDW entertainment options. Didn't they recently get rid of the lumberjack show?

I hope that most everything worth trying does get a new home. I really wish that they'd just add basic fare to the menu rather than replacing the menu with basic fare.
