Rumor Update

With the latest news from Disney in that Indiana Jones is coming July 2019, the elusive phase 4 for DHS has been revealed. If a phase 4 happens the plan is for it to be Indiana Jones which also kind of depends on how the movie does. Phase 4 was projected to be done in 2021ish. Two different sources say this is what is happening.

i'd definitely welcome that. i grew up with disneyland, and indiana jones there is a fantastic ride- i didn't realize there wasn't an equivalent when i recently went to wdw for the first time i was disappointed there was only the stunt show.
i'd be happy with a ride, but since it's labeled a 'phase', i'm guessing that means a whole land/area? not sure what else would go in it though.

Since they have a DLR ride ready to go, I could see this happening (even if there is already a variant in DAK). I'm not sure I can fathom what else they'd do. I think Muppets & Pixar have more opportunity, but I don't wield the purse strings.

Looks like I got out just in time! Actually while I'm an AP, so I don't pay for parking, this definitely wasn't posted when I was there on Sunday.

Turtle Talk will be featuring Dory and friends with Crush at some point in the near future. Cant remember if a date was given.

It's already happening. I was at Epcot on the 11th and the new characters were a part of the show. They do have some technical bugs to work out tho before it's as "good" as it was before.

I would be thriiiiiilled.

While I hate the fact that they are recasting Han solo for his stand alone movie (which makes me mad, speaking of story arc alone, Han is going to have to be not a good guy in that movie or it will negate his character arc in a new hope. Also.... Must we do back stories on all original characters?! I hate that. You could explore so many stories in the sw universe....).

Anyway, I always saw Indiana Jones as more of a James bond type series where indy could be recast. I'd love to see college age indy, I'm really in love with that early 1900s era.

Kingdom of the crystal skull was just so horrifically bad....

That's very interesting, did not know that about the contract. Probably could have guessed about the first part though, since he was so happy before the release.

yeah - except this is so Blue Sky right now it might as well be made up even if it is from reliable source.

An small Indy land should be a given considering it will eventually be Cash-cowed like Star Wars. I'd settle for a ride and a new show of some sort.

I think I missed it, but was there an annoucement on the "3rd land" outside of the various rumors/blue sky talk from when Toy Story and Star Wars lands were originally unveiled?

No but space and money was set aside for a phase three where it hasn't been for a phase 4.

I saw those costumes on a Backstage Magic tour last summer. When they were showing us through the costume department, a cast member was working on putting the design into a digital database (really fascinating!). They looked incredible in person. It got me excited about Rivers of Light and what was to come to Animal Kingdom in the future!

What has always bothered me is the difference between the digital apps and the interactive apps.

They are produced by two different divisions, but all of the Disney games are available on all 3 (apple, android, windows) platforms. Whereas with the MDX/DLR/SDP apps, they are only on apple/android with 0 intention of ever developing for Windows, and now this product is only available for apple. There is a total of 0 reasons why can't expand to all platforms

I think it mainly comes down to supporting the app long term. Iphone apps are painless because you already know the device types and usually only have to update them when the OS gets a major update.

Then if you look at the Android phones you've got countless companies making phones of all different sizes, speeds and quality. It gets pretty ugly trying to validate things work on all the devices. It causes a lot of companies to only worry about android and windows phones when something is going to generate a lot of profit to offset the maintenance costs. Small developers tend to favor android though since it doesn't have the overhead and fees of Apple.

I didn't intend that it would be a great view, but just a fun perspective. Like riding Big Thunder Mountain or Splash Mountain during Wishes - far from a perfect view, but it adds to the experience.

I agree on this. One of my favorite things at MK is riding SM at night and catching glimpses of the castle as you round a bend. Not specifically a show but it adds to the experience for me.
