News Round Up 2016

Well - I'm going to disagree with this. I think Disney is doing pretty good to manage to find 5,000 seats in an already existing area. Fantasmic was built from scratch and is only 1,900 more seats. Disney can't build these areas based on expected crowds on opening night. If they built a 15,000 seat area then 2 years from now it would be playing to half empty seating.

What they will have to do in manage the crowds. Whether through dining packages or FP+, this is what they did in DCA with World of Color and they'll have to do the same thing here. Having 2 or 3 shows a night at first might also help significantly, but yes people will be disappointed and have to be turned away.
I agree.

Along with this, the article points out there being plenty of other things to do at HS. However, they leave out things like the new restaurant and the nightime safari (which I think I am more excited for than ROL personally) among other things (entertainment) that I'm sure will follow. I also think Everest in the dark could be REALLY cool (no rumors of that closing down at night I'm assuming). But I'm with you, especially if the 3 shows go, I think this article is off (and I'm not an AK guy).

Plus the "there's more to do at DHS" doesn't really hold water. All the other shows are already shut down by the time Fantasmic is running, which much of the year is right at closing. The difference here I think is that a lot more people have already seen Fantasmic, and not everyone wants to go see it. (We haven't seen it in about 6 years in Florida.)

I could be wrong but I thought the thinking was that it wouldn't run while Rivers of Light is going because the screams from the ride can be heard where Rivers of Light is and would impact the show.

Not sure if that just means no trains running during the 22 minutes the show goes on or that it closes once the first ROL of the night is to start

I'm really not sure where they could have put any more seats in this case. They are working in a confined space.

There was a lot of speculation about this, but so far no indication Everest will close. If they're really going to run RoL 3 times a night they pretty much have to keep Everest going through the shows.

All rumor and speculation at this point as far as I know.
My personal speculation is that the speakers/audio for ROL will overwhelm any noises from Everest and it will continue to run.

Keeping the park open late and shuttering a premiere attraction seems silly to me.

This is I think potentially the biggest problem with opening RoL months ahead of Pandora. I'm not sure there's enough additional things to do to occupy all those extra hours (unless you were someone who already saw AK as an all day park).

If I was to guess I'd say what will happen is that people will go to the park later in the day but they won't actually stay longer until Pandora comes online.

Fully agree with all you are saying, just PP mentioned "no rumors of that closing down at night I'm assuming" and wanted to let him know there are at least rumors (but like you said - just rumors and speculatioN0

On Disney's website they have Everest at night listed as one of the new nighttime opportunities in the park, so I would wager to guess they aren't going to close it...if they were I don't think they'd specifically mention that people could do it at night...especially if there will be multiple showings of ROL which means they'll have to start pretty soon after nightfall.

I am quoting a post from another site claiming that the HS Star Wars fireworks will now continue until the new "Star Wars - A Galactic Spectacular" starts in the "summer". This is from a pretty reputable site. Can anyone confirm this? Rteetz?

"One thing to note here is that the Phasma-led Procession and stage show are starting April 4th, while the enhancements coming to the fireworks are arriving in “summer.” The Star Wars fireworks as they appear now will continue until the new show debuts, which is a departure from the original plans. The fireworks here were supposed to end around the time Rivers of Light came online. But I think Disney realized that they don’t really want 15,000 people sticking around Animal Kingdom until 11:30pm at night and it would be less expensive and more profitable to hold them here at a Park that is otherwise used to staying open until 10pm in the summer. There would be relatively little interest in a rehash of Frozen Summer Fun."

I'm a park hopper, virtually every day. There is NO park to me that's a full day park... just multiple half days. I would probably book a morning at DAK and a separate evening at DAK on my next trip. Plenty of people who only want to do one half day at DAK will arrive after 2 and do the evening there, skipping the morning... so they can see the new stuff.

I prefer to do all day in one park. I hate wasting all that time moving between parks.

I think Disney wants AK to be busy all day long, and without Avatar I don't think RoL will do that, I think it will simply move the hours people visit.

I don't think you are wrong. But I think Disney will be happy so long as a substantial group is visiting during the day, and a substantial group in the evening. They only benefit if these are 2 distinct groups.

I can't confirm but I can say what I've seen or heard.

I haven't seen anything to indicate that the fireworks will continue until the new ones start. Based on how other things have gone I would think there has to be a bit of down time in between the shows. This new show is using an all new launch site. The old launches will likely be dismantled.

Yes, as much as I would like this to be true, I was very skeptical when I read it. Thanks for your response. Don't think I'm going to change my plans just yet. 8-)

That is how I read it... "select rides". Mine train for example, the 2nd location isn't needed. However, the person will still need to be there to staff. But Space Mountain? They better keep the 2nd location. That ride is begging for line jumping.

big thunder mountain......jumping........ test track...... jumping.......kali river ........ jumping.......dinosaur........ pirates....tower of terror... RNR.......

BOING

Whoa really ? And they are planning to run this 3 times a night ? SO ... they are going to close Everest for an hour each night ?

My thoughts were actually about how cool it would be to hit up Everest while the show was on, hoping the crowd/lines would be minimal.
