News Round Up 2016

Along with Lion King, and the talking fish in Nemo. I think talking critters is safe for AK.
True but Lion King and Nemo dont have animal acting like humans. In both of those movies they are still animals acting like animals. Zootopia is animals acting like people. For example a rabbit is a traffic cop and a sloth works at the animal version of the DMV (Which I think is hilarious).

 In a whole area that embraces fantasy, I can live with those differences.

I don't believe much Jim Hill says, but I can't discount that he has been right before. I come here to reports news and rumors. Jim Hill falls in the rumors category which is why I continue to report what he says.

I think it is perfectly fine to post what Jim Hill says here. As you say, it's a news and rumor thread, and his stuff is certainly rumor.

Just expect me to continue to point out how worthless it is. :teeth:

Don't get tied up in that semantics about "themepark"...

In the 1950's amusement parks had been in neglect for 20 years and there was a stark contrast.

Not nearly as big a difference now.

I'd say there's still some core differences. Yes some of the upper end amusement parks are aiming at the lower end of Disney/Universal but they are the exception. Things like Six Flags, Hershey and Kings Dominion are all about cramming big terrifying thrill rides in and nothing else.

Jim Hil musings on Animal Kingdom

Disney is looking at possibly bringing Zootopia into this park if the movie does well. (Conservation station area)

Rivers of light will seat around 6000. Disney is undecided whether they will run Everest during the show. It's also possible the show may not run every night.

It will be a shame if they close down EE during the show. Riding EE at night is such a different experience than during the day. It would be really popular, I think, and possibly help with the crowd levels for the show

I think the concern is the that the noise of the shrieking thrill seekers might distract from the show.

There's a lot of operational unknowns here though including the exact length of the show; how many times a night it would run and what the extended park hours would be.

And likely it is hard to judge the noise levels accurately until the show runs.

Yeah - it gets pretty loud there every 45 seconds by the lagoon. My guess is that "shutting it down" would mean they just wouldn't run it for the 15-20 minutes from when the show starts. The problem will be the people waiting in line that get "shut out" right before the show starts. They would more than likely have to close the line down at a certain point to ensure that no one is cut off.

Edit: Actually as I think about it, the more likely scenario is for them to run the show at "Closing" similar to what DHS does with Fantasmic. Park Closing is at 10 PM, ROL starts at 10 PM. Then they cut off the line for Everest at 9:20 PM so that the show is done. Actually similar to what they do with GMR at DHS when they are running the fireworks, they have to make sure everyone is out before the show starts.

Oh I understand the concern...they shut down CA Screamin for much the same reason during WOC. If they run it like Fantasmic, though, with multiple shows before park close, I don't see how they open EE in between shows...EE would likely just close very early, which would make it harder to ride at night. If they do as skier_pete suggested, though, and run it like they run Illuminations where ROL is at park close, that would be a better option.

It's because of the screams distracting the show. You will still be able to ride EE at night but just not during the show.

Mickey, Minnie, Donald etc meet or have met in AK. Not much difference between them and Zootopia.

This might be a stretch, but Chester and Hester/the dinos on Primeval Whirl act like humans. I'd also make a case for A Bug's Life, though it is obviously not on the same level as Zootopia.
