News Round Up 2016

Can't agree that doing the Beast as a Muppet would be a better choice. (Which is what a practical effect Beast would end up looking like.)

You gotta give professional makeup artists a bit more credit than that.

Just compare the practical (real) creatures and aliens in the force awakens to the phantom menace ones. Night and day.

See I disgaree. I think he looks about as good as you can get for a live action version of this movie. Its obviously different than the animated version but you have to go in with that mindset.

I'm aware this will not be the animated movie.

I thought there were rumors just a few weeks ago that the movie might be delayed to try to make the beast look better? If that's the case he's not as good as he can get.

All I'm saying is that I'm tired of movies using CGI affects that just aren't there yet when they could be using practical affects.

Except that all the articulated creatures that actually interact with people in the Force Awakens WERE CGI. The minor ones that didn't have any dialog were practical. Moz Katana for instance was CGI.

You are more comparing 1999 CGI to 2015 CGI.

I don't think practical makeup would've been the best idea for one of the main characters in terms of facial movement, muscles and such. Plus, modern CG makes it easier to capture the actors' range of emotions.

I did hear that they were not fully satisfied with the looks of the beast, though, so we might get a different look in the final product.

I do like some of the new merch with EPCOT on it

I was actually really impressed with the new merch. Sent my wife the link (she is as obsessed with Epcot as I am) and told her we need to save up some extra money for our next spring training trip.
BTW she is very impressed with your TR and says I need to read it as we both like beer.

Long time lurker so first off thanks for the board and all of the great info! The reason I decided to reply was my now wife and I went on our first date 15 years ago today to Monsters Inc. I guess we have been Disney people ever since.
Thanks for coming out of lurker-ness. That's a cool story.

Okay, so I'll be in the parks from the 12th to the 19th. What're the odds I'll see Kelly Clarkson? My Dad is a huge fan and I'd love to surprise him with her taping while we're there.
