News and Developments for Future In-Person runDisney Events

Agree! For whatever reason, the shirt from the One That Was Cancelled remains my favorite. Maybe it’s the yellow.
I have tried to get rid of mine repeatedly by packing it as a throwaway, but every time, the weather has wound up either being too warm or too cold for it to work. I can't decide if that's good luck or not!

I just hope they release princess info tomorrow too, one of my worries is they will just slow drip out each run, so tomorrow they only announce Wine and Dine is virtual, then wait for Marathon and then wait even longer for Princess...

I think we see the full 2021-2022 calendar whether that includes a virtual or in-person W&D or skips it entirely (making it just 2022 I suppose).

Most likely. At a minimum, they've got to announce at least ONE in-person race. Posting that teaser before announcing another virtual race weekend would be ridiculously cruel!

Honestly, the rain puddles? Trolling SO HARD. A lot of us still have PTSD from Splash & Dash, Half-of-a-Half, and the One That Was Canceled (not to be confused with the many that were canceled because of COVID). I think rD has a new social media admin and they are savage lolol!
Or the delayed, no corrals, mass start, not-quite-a-5k race…

One more day…. So glad they decided to toy with my emotions yet again. All sights now set on Good News Wednesday!

All this excitement is driving me crazy. As soon as dates are announced, I'll be booking a room.

This will be my first RunDisney 5k event. I researched quite a bit, but much of the information has been difficult to find due to the pandemic. One thing I can't seem to figure out.. do I need to attend the Expo before the date of the race?

For example, if the 5k is on a Tuesday, do I need to attend the Expo the weekend prior (Sat/Sun) to pick up my bib, etc.? Do they host the Expo throughout the week, or is it only the weekend prior to Marathon Week?
:tigger:

Yes they have it the days leading up to all races! I think in the past, the later days into the week, it may have ended earlier (mid afternoon). but I may not have the times right. they will announce that closer to! However, if you want good merch, go on day 1. they sell out QUICK. Also, the 5k will be the first race of the weekend, so you will have to go on Day 1 for that anyway. 5k will be Thursday, and the expo will start on the Wednesday the day before

If they hold true to the same format they have used for the past 10 years or so on Marathon Weekend, the Expo would open on Wednesday, and yes, you would need to attend that day, as you will pick up your bib for the race the following morning (Thursday morning 5k).

5k will be on thursday for marathon, or Friday for princess...just the day before is when you need to go....so wed or Thurs depending on weekend

My wife tried one runDisney race. The 2019 SWRR 5k that almost got rained out, and did get shortened, with no characters or photo ops.

I'm not sure I can get her to do another one, even if she's there with me for a race weekend.

Y’all have got me pumped!

signed up for my first ever virtual series this summer (lion king one) and now looking forward to my first in person!

also like a previous poster said, hoping they bring back the resort runs because I love those!

Couple of observations:
  • Recall that, in the mails they sent, replying to questions, they’ve always said they haven’t released their 2021-2022 race schedule yet. I can’t imagine they won’t ignore 2021 (W&D)
  • Notice how there are 4 runners in the video and, in the past, when they’ve announced schedules, they’ve always gone from fall through the following spring.
I’ll go way out on a limb:
  • W&D
  • MW
  • Princess
  • Star Wars (with some kind of Avengers surprise for Disneyland to coincide with the opening of the Avengers Campus - maybe a 5K or 10K that stays entirely on property?)
