NEWS 5/17: Late 2019 itineraries released - link in post #1 (2020 watch thread will start soon)

Where are you seeing "extra day in Vancouver?" All I see is Vancouver as the port of initial and departure ports?

You're right - my bad! I could have sworn when I looked at the 9 night it said Vancouver twice but it says VICTORIA, not Vancouver. I've been there a lot (we are going there in April to see relatives) so its still not a draw to me but that is besides the point.

8:00am sharp East Coast time!

If you are going through Costco, be aware that they cannot book directly on the early CC member days. They will have to call. So, you will be on hold with Costco, who will be on hold with Disney!

Ok now I'm caught up. Any idea if the August 26 Alaska (which was traditionally cheaper than earlier in August) will be more now because it includes Icy Strait Point? I also see that Juneau is the same day as Tracy Arm... assuming it will be a short day in Juneau...
For those that have been, does Juneau deserve a full day? Am I wrong to think having both on one day will make it for a hectic day?
I'm also looking at Aug 12 or 19 "regular" 7 night Alaska.
I wonder if adding an extra port day to the Aug26 sailing was done to justify charging more for a time they normally charged less....?
Like with SWDAS. Prior to SWDAS, Jan/Feb Fantasy sailings were the cheapest... we scored amazing deals on them. Hasn't been the case since they have special days at sea... it's like Disney takes slower, less popular times, adds some twists and then charges more...
Hope this is not the case with the "modified" 7n Alaska ... any ideas? Who else is looking at Alaska?

I'm not sure... they will have been to Icy Strait Point before and there isn't really a lot there IMO. Its kind of an artificial stop since its outside the town and was built for cruise ships. We opted not to do a tour and then didn't really have anything to do when we saw how little was there. The cannery museum is just a couple displays inside a bunch of shops basically and lunch didn't take long.. we ended up on a long walk (a very very pretty walk mind you). We really should have done an excursion.

Juneau absolutely deserves a full day - there is a lot you can do there and its their capital city! Mendenhall alone takes at least half a day never mind the tram and getting crab legs at Tracys or going on a whale watching tour...

Thought so... thanks!

Yes - that has been my experience. I think it took about about 2 hours on the phone with them the last time I booked.

Has anyone else noticed that they labeled Akeryuri as Norway instead of Iceland? So with that correction, they will be in Iceland for three days, not two.

I don't mean to sound churlish when I say this, @AquaDame, but would it be possible to plan on consolidating all of the "outrage" threads that will undoubtedly be posted next week?

I don't mean to curb anyone's ability to vent their spleen, but when you see essentially the same fricking thread getting started over and over and over (I'm Priced Out!/It's Price-Gouging!/DCL Is Only for the Rich!/Walt Never Wanted It This Way!/RCCL Is a Better Bargain!/etc.), it clogs up the board to the point of distraction.

I'm kinda bummed that the Alaska cruise over my birthday is only a 5-night. Granted, I don't have to deal with Icy Straight Point (which I hated and found a total waste of time a couple of years ago on RCCL), but it's too short to really justify flying all the way to Vancouver. :(

Fortunately there are others that I like to make up for it. I really was hoping Alaska would work though. (And I know I could go later, but I would love to cruise over my actual birthday).

I second that!!!:duck:

Agree 100%!

Yes, they do. It should be with the 'summer' batch. I'd expect it to be May 15-20, 2019 as the last Baja Cruise ends on 5/15/19. The 2018 cruise season has Alaska starting on 5/21/18, so this would be in line with that. (Of course, there's always the possibility of a Hawaiian cruise first?)

Hello! Also watching for this cruise...it doesn't seem to be on the latest release (today)...any chance they'll add it before next week? Do they ever skip the California Coast return trip for any reason?

Is this because of my comment?

I doubt it.

I'm guessing from your number of posts you're new and may not have been around for past releases/opening days. Once people start reporting/hearing prices, there are inevitably a whole slew of individual posts bemoaning the price and it gets old quickly.

Yes, DCL is expensive. But there are people willing to pay - or take fewer vacations to save up - for whom it is worth it. Disney was never set up to be a charity, and while yes, it's disappointing, there are other options out there.

I was also looking for a California Coast cruise in May. It would be strange if they didn't do it..

I’m quite aware of the criers from the many Disney fb groups I’m in. If I had a dime for every time Walt supposedly rolled in his grave id be richer that bob iger. Also Walt would have tunneled into the center of the earth.

I’m lucky I have a dummy cruise booked within our budget for spring break.

They have 5 days to get from San Diego to Vancouver before the first Alaskan cruise, so it will definitely be doing the trip. Some people are wondering if it is a chartered trip (like a DVC Members one), or if it just wasn't on the list but WILL be available to be booked next week.

I CAN, but the reason I haven't is they start so innocently - one person wants to vent their very specific scenario and I don't want to be too heavy handed with stifling their very real need to vent/talk it out. Quickly though they do just turn into bashing threads. I'd hate to over moderate though... if I merge them all into one then the other people after them are less likely to be responded to. Tossing everyone into a bucket called "priced out" seems pretty insensitive. :guilty:

Nooooo not at all! You will see what they mean when booking starts next week. You're fine! :)
