The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King is to be released Dec. 17 and I'll be on DCL. Any chance beyond slim and none that I can see aboard the ship? (Wonder 12/14 - 12/18)??
Disney Cruise Line shows first-run films from its subsidiaries (Buena Vista, Touchstone, Hollywood Pictures, Miramax, etc.) It shows second-run films from other film companies. In other words, it will show Disney-company films on or just after their release dates but it takes a while (several months) before non-Disney-company films show up in the DCL theater. Since Lord of the Rings is not a Disney film it won't be shown on the DCL ships until long after its release date.
They take the PreMears very seriously...when "Finding Nemo" came out, the first showing was at 12:01 a.m. on the premiere day. That was while we were on the Memorial Day week Magic, and it was a bit too late at night for us, so we saw it when we sailed on the Wonder in July. For the recently released movies, they usually have showings in the Walt Disney Theater to accomodate the crowds, since it holds a lot more than the Buena Vista.

That really stinks about the Lord of the Rings movie. I will be on the Dec. 27 sailing and was looking forward to seeing it then. My husband is a huge fan of Lord of the Rings. He will be very disappointed!
