Newest "Moms to Be" Thread

Nope, it's college insurance.
We didn't buy anything through our employers.

If I enrolled in summer classes, I can add him to my policy for the summer term but I can't enroll him in a "term" that I'm not enrolled in classes for.

My policy runs August-August (fall semester to the next fall semester) and I'm not required to attend summer classes as long as I bought it and attended the required courses for enrollment at that time (fall and spring semesters)..

I'll double check but I'm pretty sure they won't let me buy the "summer" policy for him, since I won't be enrolled in summer classes. I asked them shortly after I found out I was pregnant because insurance is one of those things I flipped out about not having when DH and I got married-- I didn't have insurance for two months! Even chopping onions freaked me out! :rotfl:

I guess the obvious answer is to enroll in a summer course but they haven't released any information about them yet sooo I don't know.

Luckily, it's cheap insurance. And good coverage. If they'll let me buy the summer policy for him w/o me being enrolled it's only $237. Otherwise, I guess we'll be paying OOP... and cross our fingers that he stays in there a bit longer so there is less time to cover stuff OOP. Haha.

That sucks. I know for awhile dh had himself and the kids on private ins-he didn't have any with work (he was an ins. agent:rotfl2: ) and the school insurance isn't worth the $500 it would cost to add them to it. He got it cheaper and it was better coverage (we don't have copays-everything is out of pocket until you hit the deductible).

We're using our family doctor instead of a regular pediatrician. She does babies and she knows our histories, so we figured why not?

Thanks for all the info. The only two pediatricians that I know of I don't care for. I will ask my OB/GYN when I am a little further a long. It's nerve wracking to be responsible for another life lol. I am already worried about doing things right.

I'll have my husband double check on the insurance but the 30 days seems about right.

He also needs to find out about how much paid paternity leave he has but people at work don't know yet so we are waiting until 2nd trimester to find out and plan. I am so glad that he will have some time to be home and help me (although I do think he might annoy me a lot lol!)

I'll let you know how the doppler works out! I hope we can find it but I know it is hard to find at this point. I have to have blood taken tomorrow and part of me would like to hear baby and part of me hopes he doesn't try because if he doesn't find it (he found it at the last appointment) I know I will worry even though it doesn't necessarily mean anything bad. I hope I can relax a bit in the 2nd trimester.

Oh, wow. My school insurance is amazing. My deductible is $250 and so far for everything they've paid more than the $780 I paid for the policy (you know, the policy DH and I bought in case of emergency... not a + on the stick!) and I've had OOP expenses (after my deductible) of less than $100 with the pregnancy.

Now, that ER bill will be a different story! :scared:
They cover 80/20 of pretty much everything (including my surgery, whenever I have it) and 100% of hospital stay expenses including nursing care. Also, covers 100% of "regular newborn infant care while in hospital" then I figure for the 30 days he'll be covered under my policy it'll go back to the 80/20 on everything.

The "discounts" my hospital gives them cuts almost every bill in 1/3.. then they pay their 80 and send me the bill for the 20%.

It's pretty amazing coverage, imho.

Hi guys! Just checkin in!

I am in week 6 and really the only symptoms I have been feeling are sore ****s..

I have been getting a little nauseous and you would think that food would make it worse but today when I was feeling sick, I ate some food and it actually made me feel 100% BETTER! Is that weird? or kind of normal?

Right now I am stuck with a stupid cold that I can't take anything for!!!!

That is normal for some people. For some of us, doesn't matter if we eat or not. Oh, and you can take Sudafed in the red box. I was stubborn for awhile, but finally gave in and bought a box.

Totally normal- that was really my only uncomfortable thing during my first trimester (I was lucky, I didn't have any morning sickness)

Dr. said it's because your stomache is churning up acid (since everything is moving through our systems so much quicker now, you're noticing the acid on an empty stomache that you didn't before) and that eating neutralizes it and takes away the nausea. :thumbsup2

I carried 100 calorie packs with me and that way I had something small on hand at all times to snack on if nausea hit.

Hey everyone! I will get caught up soon...hope everyone is doing well!!!

Just wanted to let you all know that Luca Alexander was born Thursday, Feb. 5th at 3:03 AM...I actually went into labor on my own Wednesday night! He was only 8 lbs 9 3/4oz and is a tiny 20 inches. He is absolutely wonderful, but likes to eat a lot.

Definitely! I can't have enough hand lotion and Chapstick in my purse. And since we got a note home from the kids' school about the dreaded head lice going around some of the classrooms, my dry scalp has made me very paranoid. :scared1: DH is already tired of hearing "Can you PLEASE check my hair!" But so far, the kids' heads are clean and I just have a dry scalp. Phew!

My face has been very dry. I have been using Berts Bees tummy butter. It's very thick but has been doing the trick. I haven't noticed the dy scalp issue yet.

Sarah! MinneFan4Ever is having a girl.

I think. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong?)

Anyway-- thanks for the comments other working peoples. I thought it was very odd, but I'm with Laura.. must be a way to cover their butts if something were to happen they can say they had permission for me to work. I don't really see anything happen while I'm making deposits and cashing checks though... it's not exactly a high-risk job, kwim?

Happy Sunday everyone!

Piecey you are right. We are having a little girlprincess: This weekend we went shopping to look at furniture and bedding and car seats and .... My husband was just amazed at all there is for a baby. I think now I have a plan on how I want to do her room. It is just sooo much fun.

Thanks you both made me feel better!
I could go on with the list of changes to my body but this is the one thing bothering me today.

YES.. Ugh. I feel like that babies are just sucking the moisture out of my skin with a straw!

I think we have a name for our little one. Either...

Natalie Ann or
Natalie Eileen

Both middle names are family names. I am thinking it will be Natalie Ann. I think it flows better. What do you all think?

How many syllables in the last name? I love the name Natalie, regardless. :thumbsup2

Nope, I've been oily. I usually have winter eczema, but not this year. I wonder if it has to do with the DHA supplement I'm taking. :confused3

Okay Mommies To Be ... Can I ask you all a question? Kind of personal.

How long did it take you to concieve? Medical intervention?

DH and I are onto cycle 5 TTC #2. It took us 8 months to get pregnant with DS. I am hoping for less than that this time around but it's creeping up. My doctor said in 3 more month if we aren't pregnant and want to be to call him. The time we did get pregnant with DS I only saw DH once that month. After months of prefectly timed BD we got PG on a fluke month. I am hoping that there isn't something up with DH's swimmers ...

Thanks guys!!! I love stalking your thread and can't wait to hear from Lisa!!

You probably won't like my answer!

I get pregnant really easy. I'm 36, was 35 when I conceived, so told dh not to get his hopes up this time. I went off the pill in July and was pregnant 6 wks later. Same thing happened with my ds11 when I was 23. And with dd9, we tried ONE TIME-Valentine's Day! Apparently, my fertility hasn't taken a beating as I've aged!
