Newest "Moms to Be" Thread

Sooooo... I packed my bag today. Well.. mostly. I packed the babies things, MAN. Packing for two takes up a lot more room in the bag then packing for one. :rotfl2: I packed my going home outfit.. That was easy, stretch pants, and a maternity shirt that doesnt fit over my HUMONGOUS belly right now.

I made lists of things the kids will need... plus the other stuff dh and I will need.. and what we need to get done before the babies come.. Which really isnt much. Even though I just made the lists.. Im feeling more prepared. Next weekend we finish the to-do list. The kids bags cant be packed until time to leave, and if we have to leave in a hurry... I went over the list with Alex so he knows where everything is, and can show his grandma... Then i taped the list to the wall for him. I still dont have any diapers though. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

:cool1: :cool1: Woohoo!! I just got my Maya Wrap today. Im cant wait to try it out. The rings are supposed to be able to hold up to 300 pounds or something, so I told dh to hop on in. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

What is a Maya Wrap?

Get some diapers lady! I think they need those! :rotfl:

(DH and I saw cloth diapers at TRU tonight and we both looked at each other and said "No way in he**")

Those that work... and especially those that have other kiddos!

How long do you plan to keep working??

My HR is requiring me to get a "Medical Certificate" that my OB has approved me working the final 6 weeks of my pregnancy.
I've never been pregnant before and other than my gallbladder I've had a pretty easy go of things... but is it usual for women to be unable to work their last 6 weeks?
Seems odd that I have to get something confirming that I'm allowed to work. :confused3

After they switch my station from the drive-thru (which they're supposed to do March 1) I'll be able to sit with my feet up which will help a lot (I'm already feeling the swelling after longer shifts!) but I can't imagine why I would need to stop working those final 6 weeks unless I was ordered to bedrest by my Doctor... :confused3

Sorry, I just thought it was very odd!
As did my managers. They looked at me like I had 10 heads when I gave them the note from my Doctor "confirming the pregnancy" which was also required by HR.
((Well, this is all required to be eligible for the 12 weeks maternity leave...))

http://www.mayawrap.com/ Very handy for carrying baby... and I can plop both the little buggers in there.

We were going to do cloth diapers if we only had one... then went to check out diaper delivery services.. Still not totally decided if we are going to go that way yet. It seems cheaper and just as easy as disposable... I just dont know.

:confused3 I dont know! I worked right up until I had my first. I just stopped a day or two before he was born. I had to get a note saying why I was leaving, and then one releasing me to go back to work.. But that was it.

OHhh.. that looks really nifty! I like the patterns and stuff, too. Looks fashionable instead of those little harness looking things!! :rotfl2:

I just can't imagine, from what I've read, having to remove the poop before I wash the diaper. If I could just throw it (poop and all!) in the washer.. that would be one thing. But I can't imagine the multiple stages!

I think it's totally weird! They've got me freaked out now because it says if I have to take leave before I give birth (and go 'inactive') I don't get all 12 weeks. So I'm hanging onto my last week of vacation and week of sick leave.. because at least if I'm on my allotted paid leave, I'm still 'active'..

Stupid HR. This company is too big, thats the only thing I can think of. Too many lawsuits in the past, they're covering their booties for it all. :scratchin

I know.. The poo thing is gross, thats why I really like the delivery stuff.. You dont rinse anything, just roll them up, and dump them in the bin they give you. Just as easy as disposables!!

Thats stupid.. Why wouldnt you get your full 12 weeks??

I was out for the summer with ds11, but worked up until I had dd9. I'm due the last week of school this time, and I plan to work up until I go into labor, unless I have some complications before that time. I don't see why you can't if you are healthy at that point?

Piecey, I am a SAHM now, but previously had worked for a large bank 10 years. With DS I worked the up until the day before I delivered him.
I worked till 4pm on a Thursday went to the OB that evening and was told no more work. Friday morning I went in labor and never got in to give them my work release note. You are right whole thing just seems odd, but due what you got to do.

Ugh...I am exhausted DS is not sleeping lately and I am one tired prego mom. I have a two year old cutting molars!

Good night all!

Just don't panic if you can't find the heartbeat early on. With ds11, the dr. couldn't find the heartbeat at 10 wks, so I got to see him bouncing around in an early sonogram. With this baby, the dr. didn't even try to find it on doppler until 13 wks, even though I heard it on the sonogram at 9 wks.

::yes:: As a matter of fact, at my last appointment on Tuesday, it took forever for my doctor to find the heartbeat. We'd both felt her move in there, though, so we knew she had to have a heartbeat to hear. :rotfl: She was just in a funny position.

That is weird. I had to turn in a form saying I wanted to take the FMLA leave and when. Of course, I just estimated the dates since I don't know when the baby's going to make her debut. There is a medical certification my employer requires for non-maternity or -paternity FMLA leave. I suppose if I had to go on bedrest for a pregnancy complication, I would need it. But the pregnancy isn't why I'm going to miss work for 12 weeks, it's the birth.

I guess it's just something your employer does to cover their butts for some reason. Like you can't sue them if something goes wrong--they can say, "Well, your doctor said you could work." :confused3

Hi there Moms to Be !!!!

Hope everyone is feeling well. Our tempature is in the 50s today.:cool1:
We finally have some melting snow.

Sarah! MinneFan4Ever is having a girl.

I think. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong?)

Anyway-- thanks for the comments other working peoples. I thought it was very odd, but I'm with Laura.. must be a way to cover their butts if something were to happen they can say they had permission for me to work. I don't really see anything happen while I'm making deposits and cashing checks though... it's not exactly a high-risk job, kwim?

Happy Sunday everyone!

Hello ladies!

Can I ask how you guys found a pediatrician and when I should have one by? At my doctors office I overheard them telling someone to make sure they added the baby before the birth so that baby was covered. :confused3

We found one a few weeks ago and I am 35.5 weeks. I would say you have a little time- but it is never too early to start looking. Probably somewhere in the 7th to 8th month would be okay. I went with a recommendation from my OB- I had also heard good things about this doc from co-workers. We had a consult to meet him and ask questions. At birthing class, they recommended that you meet with at least 2 doctors, but we felt comfortable with him so we are going with him...

As far as insurance goes (if that is what you mean by the baby being "covered"), the baby will be covered under your insurance for the 1st 30 days. then you need to add him/her to either your insurance plan or your spouses.

Hope this helps.
Hope everyone is feeling good.
Yeah for the babies born over the past few weeks.

I can't believe how close to the top of the list I am getting!!!

Melissa, I found my pediatrician by inquiring with family members who they used. My OB/GYN adds it to your file as soon as you know who you are using. It is important they have it in your file, should they baby need care at birth, circumcision, and birth check up done at the hospital.

I don't remember about the insurance??? I am curious what people say...I am going to have to check with my insurance company at some point.

Ann

They haven't said anything to me about it yet, but I know it's all in the books and stuff to do ASAP.

My more pressing matter is figuring out how to insure the little kiddo. :faint:
The way I am understanding things, the baby will get my insurance for 30 days and after that nothing.
I have no way to add him to anything until mid- August. So... that means he'd go without insurance for July and most of August and I'm thinking thats baaaad. Eek!

That does not seem right?? Your Co. won't let you add, how can they do that?? Can you pay out of pocket for two months? Check ups start very soon after you get home with the baby. If memory serves me correctly I think DS went two weeks after we got him home.

Do your homework on that one Piecey it sounds strange.

Why can't you add him until mid-Aug? For every ins. we've ever had, you could add a newborn at any time, or you could make changes due to adoption or job loss (since dh has the kids on his, if he lost his job I could add him and the kids to mine at any time). For all other cases we have to wait for open enrollment, which for me is in Oct.

For ds11, I used my sister's pediatrician. I liked him, but he stayed booked up. Over the years, I saw several different drs in the same clinic, until this young dr started there and we just fell in love with him. He has such a good manner with the kids. He will be this baby's dr for sure.
