What kind of swings are we talking about? Like these?

What about things like bouncers and walkers? Do you really need socks?

Yep.. just like that! My kids both slept in those things for at least a few months.

My kids hated bouncy seats. But they are HANDY if you take a shower and want the baby near you, or something like that. Thats what I used mine for... Whenever I needed to get stuff done, and needed to park baby nearby.

Never had a walker. I have one of these, and my dd loved it so much, I thought she was going to bounce herself right out!:rotfl2:

Unless you keep your baby in sleepers all the time, you will want socks. but buy extras, because babies pull them off constantly. and they get lost. But you are in a warmer area, so might not be as necessary.

They sell them almost everywhere. I got mine at walmart.. Im sure they sell them at TRU too.

Last time I was at the baby store, they had these little cups to put over the boys pee-pee while you change his diaper so he doesnt get ya! We were dying!:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Too funny!

Ohmygosh, that is too funny!! :rotfl2:

An aunt gave me a heads up to have a folded receiving blanket handy, or the diaper if I prefer to possibly lose it, to lay over his tummy covering his pee-pee, to keep the cold from really hitting him/keep him from spraying me.

I'm sure it'll take a few tries, but I'll figure something out without a cup! :rotfl2: :lmao:

:rotfl2: Boys are too much fun! I just made sure I had an extra diaper on hand to cover that puppy up.

Alright. I've handled a lot of the bigger items (all my furniture!) so I won't feel bad throwing a few of these type things on my registry! I have a few Aunts and a mother who will go overboard (first grandchild!)..

Sounds good for the shower, too! Never thought of that, but good idea!!

Warmer? Ohmygoodness. We're on a heatwave at 29 right now. It was -11 yesterday. I'm sure that it is warmer here than there, but I don't consider this a warm climate. I need palm trees to use the word "warm!"...

:rotfl2: Boys are so much fun. Make sure you point the shooter down or they will pee right out the top of the diaper. Always have the new diaper ready to go and move quick.:rotfl:

Ah, the joys of motherhood. I loved having extra cloth diapers for spit ups, etc.

I'm excited for my little boy, even if he pees on me a few dozen times! :rotfl2:

Okay.

So does anyone have a Jeep stroller on here?
DH and I really like the Jeep stroller and my dad is a Jeep fanatic and promised me he'd buy the kid their first Jeep..
I went off of your idea for car seat, but found this one:

which I think is what I'm going for.

This might seem like an odd question-- but you guys both said you bottle fed before, right? How many bottles do you need on hand? 4oz vs. 8oz?
You guys are great! :goodvibes

Holy mackerel!! I was thinking you guys were warmer there! Never mind then. Yes.. Buy socks to keep those teeny feet warm. But they dont need shoes.

I had two different jeep strollers with my first. The big one, and the umbrella stroller. The umbrella stroller was a $30. piece of crap. But the big one was great!

Can you fit the car seat into the stroller? I couldnt do that with my first baby, and it kinda sucked if we went somewhere and couldnt just pop out the car seat and plunk it into the stroller. My second one we could do that with, and it was far easier. If your baby is sleeping you dont have to wake them, and take them out of the car seat.

This time it was a necessity, and DANG.. That was a hard stroller to find!

Oh.. Bottles. Ummm... I had probably 8 of each size. But dont buy a bunch now, some babies have a different nipple preference when it comes to bottles. I used Avent with my youngest, and I REALLY liked those.

I love my :thumbsup2 Graco infant carseat...great choice.

As far as strollers...I have had three and would only recommend one.
We have graco travel system (to big and heavy, take so much of trunk), Chicco umbrella(just average but compact), and last and :thumbsup2 best Baby Jogger City Mini!!!! Amazing DH raves about the quality all the time saying what a great investment.

Bottles...well I think 12 - 8oz and 6 - 4oz. at least. You are going to lose some or leave them at grammy's house. You are going to use them a long time. Whatever bottles you get make sure they are BPA free. I loved Dr. Brown bottles.

It's been COLD! Snow and ice and ickieness.
We're northern WV, though. They might be a little bit warmer in the south. :upsidedow

I got 3 pairs of socks at Old Navy Clearance for 1.29 and was all proud of myself. I guess I'll start stocking up on those now. My Shih-Tzu likes socks and if baby Lucas pulls his socks off where the Shih-Tzu is, there will be doggie related sock casualties. :faint:

I'm not sure if it'll fit or not, the stroller says it fits "most" infant car seats.. but I have no idea how to find out if they're compatible or not. :confused3
We liked the big one.. a lot. A lot, a lot. Do they fit into regular strollers without the carseat when they're teensie tiny little ones? Or do you have to have something to put them in inside the stroller?

You can't use different nipples on different bottles?
I thought you had to change the nipples eventually anyway? For slow/medium/faster flow?

We're talked about it and my DH is HORRIBLE at dishwashing. If I go to work, and have school, I just know some things are going to go on the wayside.. (no dishwasher in the new house yet :scared: ) so we decided on the Playtex Drop-Ins.
People suggested going ahead and buying bottle stuff-- just not opening them, because we can return them if we have a problem with those and get gift cards to get whatever WILL work.. and we'd already spend the money so the cost is already equal or whatever.

I've only bought a few boxes of liners.. but a few of them came with free bottles.

All this stuff is overwhelming!!

Different bottle brands have different shaped nipples... But yes, you do change out the nipples as babies grow.

This cracks me up! I LITERALLY have a bassinet with some clothes in it, a package of diapers, a few just in case bottles, some wipes and some baby bath..Nursing pads, diaper rash ointment, a crib, car seats, and a stroller... and Im feeling pretty good about being prepared! Oh, and a little baby seat, and a swing... maybe I need to jump on this and buy some more stuff. :rotfl2:

I'm an obsessive planner. Seriously.
And I know that with this baby being due about three weeks after finals... the further into the semester I get, the less time I will have.
Add the stress of the house (seems like every project turns into a much, much harder one) and the move and school and work and I just... don't feel like I can afford to wait. :confused3

Not to mention, I bought a lot of this stuff last year with cash because this year I have $97/paycheck going into a healthcare spending account to cover what insurance doesn't. Our cash flow, especially with the two sets of utilities and now the mortgage payment, is going to be much, much smaller and we're doing ALL home repairs, bills, and baby stuff with CASH.

We also stopped accepting student loans this semester, so our "rainy day" savings went bye-bye when tuition was due. :faint:

I'm mostly trying to get an idea and watch sales, clearances... and when I get paid, I go buy something. DH's checks pay the bill, mine buy the 'stuff'..

I can't stand just letting it go and worrying about it later. That just isn't me.
Probably helps this is my first, too! :goodvibes

I get so overwhelmed thinking of all the things I need to buy for the baby! I gave everything away when my boys outgrew them, I guess I never imagined I would have another one. Starting all over again is exciting but a bit scary too.

Has anyone dealt with SPD or any pelvic pain during their pregnancy? I have been in agony since Wednesday. I have a doctors appointment with my primary doctor Monday. I plan on discussing it with her before I call my OB again. I feel like I am being paranoid, we just got thru a blood clot issue and now this, I feel so bad for my family I can barely walk without getting teary eyed. I feel completely useless.

I was totally like that with my first. I was a single parent from the get go and bought everything myself.. Minus the crib. So I was preparing from the beginning..

I am WAY less stressed about what the babies need this time around. The clothes thing is the most bothersome thing to me. I have NO idea how much of any certain thing I should buy! Onsies.. sleepers.. outfits?? I dont know! What sizes?? :confused3

:grouphug: Im sorry! I have a lot of pressure in my pelvic area... but nothing out of the ordinary. I totally understand about feeling useless... I have been pretty useless since the beginning of my pregnancy, and it just blows.

If I keep up with things the way I've been going, I'll have already bought everything myself unnecessarily. I'm blessed with a family (aunts, uncles, parents) that have the means to spoil me and make it easier which I know they fully intend to do... but I was just not comfortable waiting until the shower to get the bigger things. I want them assembled, in the room, a few weeks before finals hit just for my own piece of mind. I want to be able to focus on school and since everyone is saying I'll be tired again the last few months, I'm trying to do as much now while I have energy...

I bought the crib with a bonus check and an employee discount. Sometimes it pays to work for a giant bank. :thumbsup2 I knew if I put the money into a savings account to buy the crib later, the money wouldn't be there. So I just went ahead and bought it.

I can see how that would be hard. Seems like twins are never a consistent size.. everyone I talk to either had itty bitty twins or big twins or average twins or two different sized twins. That would definitely be hard to plan for!
Most of the clothes I have are from $10 off a $10 purchase coupons that Penny's keeps mailing DH and myself. We don't need anything so I used some for maternity and the rest have all bought baby clothes-- mostly in bigger sizes (I bought some clearance stuff that is 24 months)

My next thing to start stocking up on are diapers.. YIKES!! LOTS of diapers! And Im going to buy a case of formula, just in case I cant feed them both.

Diapers.
Man.
And you'll have two! :faint:
