It confused by DVC and trying to get my head round it. Want to stay at BC October next year. Ideally DVC sounds best as would rather an apartment than one room with children. Will price diff renting points be much?

That all depends on what discounts they are giving at that time and whether you have an AP/PAP. If they are offering 40%, which they sometimes do, it's cheaper to get at least one AP and get the discount. Post the price you've been quoted renting DVC and someone on here will be able to answer that one for you
