Newbie with questions re point purchase

Have lurked for a while, but have finally almost convinced DH to buy... if that house ever sells...

We are looking at buying at BLT and hoping to do one "large" contract (220 points) with 2 smaller contracts to total about 300, with the idea of selling the smaller ones later if we don't need the points as the kids age. (Or, actually, selling those and buying points at an Epcot DVC is my plan...) Will they let us do that with the new 100 point add-on minimum? Can you make an overall large point purchase as an initial buyer, but break it up into smaller point contracts? Does my question make sense?

Others have reported that their DVC Guides state the 100 point minimum add ons cannot be broken into smaller contracts. Never hurts to ask your Guide, though.

it's either a master contract of 160+ pts or else it's an add-on.

Sound like you'd be able to split it up into 100, 100 and 100. Maybe better to just buy the BLT points you want now, then add on via resale smaller contracts at other resorts. BLT <100 pt contracts may eventually be on the resale boards....
I'm bummed about it too, I want 2 50 pt contracts at VGC..

Unfortunately, No. (at least I'm pretty darn sure!)
The master contract (through Disney) has to be at least 160 pts for initial buy-in.
We asked when we bought BLT in Dec. as we were looking at 280pts.
Took the 160, went home and thought about it, and did the 4x30pts before the deadline.

Maybe better to just buy the BLT points you want now, then add on via resale smaller contracts at other resorts. BLT <100 pt contracts may eventually be on the resale boards....

Key word...eventually....that may be a few years down the road, but a viable option.
The smaller contracts may be at a premium as well through resale, due to their unavailability from Disney.
THEN AGAIN!!!
Disney can just as easily "un"change their mind and bring them back later.

If I were you and had made up my mind that I WAS GOING TO BUY no matter what......
I'd buy a 160 for now, and borrow points from next year for a total of 320pts, and keep your eyes and ears open.
You can still buy small contracts (once you are a member) from Disney at another home for another week to a total of 140pts to fill in your plans.

Keep in mind that when buying a small contract resale, the $250-$300 in closing fees ADD $5-$6 per point to a 50 point contract.
Still, a savings, but can also be a headache (from what I have read, at least.)
Disney charges more per point, but no closing fees (on an add-on), and its almost instant.

As many have said, "buy where you want to stay."

I thought it was only BLT that had the 100 min.
