Newbie trying to figure it all out - VGC??

Do any of you get major buyer's remorse right after big purchases? I mean, I don't know if it's actually remorse or what but I've always felt so weird after a big purchase. Like our house, our cars, and our camper. It always turns out fine and I end up super happy with it all. But it's just those initial days/weeks where I feel a bit sick to my stomach about it all.

I'm really dreading that feeling when we are finally able to get a contract that works for us.

You got this!

I recommend watching YouTube videos about Grand Cal and Disneyland to get through the initial shock of spending a large amount of money without getting keys at the end.

With VGC. Heck no. We bought fully loaded contracts and with it, made 3 trips of 9 night stays each trip in a 1BR in the span of a year with Magic Keys going to the parks every day. Rack rate alone for all those nights would have cost nearly $50k. Instead, I had 40 more years to use these points. Remorse? I am beyond the moon with joy.

Thanks, guys! I will definitely watch videos and look at pics. It will be hard since we won't make it back for over a year. I have a countdown app on my phone and it's 429 days away. Ugh!! (And really a few days longer until we reach the hotel since we're driving.) Of course...this is all with the expectation that someone will actually accept one of our offers!

I am so impatient waiting to hear back!!

On one, a thing immediately popped up saying the seller won't take offers that low.

Not sure if you're supposed to submit offers on more than 1 at a time though. Was that bad?? (Two different sites.)

Some do that but we never did..we gave an offer and a 24 hour limit to hear back. Then we moved on because we knew we would not buy more than one

A lot of the agents work on Saturday’s, so you never know.

Did you get an email letting you know that the offer was received and will be presented to the seller?

$235 pp, 160pts. It's already been sent over to Disney for ROFR!!

The contracts are flying through ROFR.

The hardest part is going to be waiting for the seller to sign the notarized docs and then for Disney to create a member number and load the points. It will be 3-5 weeks that feels like 3 years.

Just remember that by late April you will officially be an owner of the Villas at the Grand Californian Hotel & Spa and will get to enjoy 35 magical years with your family there!!!

YAY! Though....I don't think we'll keep the contract quite that long. I'll be 79 years old in 2060. YIKES.

I'm super excited though. And we should have the account set up and points available in time to book for June 2024. I assume I should immediate bank the 160 for June 2023 into 2024 so that I can book come July, right?

We'll need to figure out what we want to do with the 25 that expire May 31st, 2024.

I don’t think you can bank the points until your UY starts. That gives you time to game some scenarios out.

Yeah, I think I can bank 160 on/after June 1st, 2023. We hope to book at the 11-month mark which would be early July, 2023. I assume I do need to bank BEFORE we try to book that trip, right? Like...I can't book a trip for June 2024 (in July '23) and wait to bank my 2023 points later in the year or something. I need to book them before I try to book. Correct?

If you want them to use when booking, yes, you have to bank.

However, if you have enough 2024 points to book without needing to borrow, you can do that and bank later in case you want to travel.

Then, when you do bank, you go in and modify the existing trip without changing it and it will pick up the banked points.

It’s not automatic so you have to remember to do but I’ve done this before.
