Newbie to Paradise Pier...

....thinking of eating at the PPH...recommendations?
PPH has a character breakfast with Donald -- it's the only character breakfast with Stitch! You'll be a very close walk to DTD (about 5 minutes -- you can see DTD from the hotel -- just follow the path out the back of the hotel, through the parking lot, along the side of the DLH to the bag check between the ESPN Zone and Earl of Sandwich -- easy!) where there are lots of restaurants (CS and TS). Check the DLR website for the DTD restaurants and the menus. You can use the DLR app to make any reservations for TS places. DLH has Tangaroa Terrace (CS), Trader Sam's, and Steakhouse 55 (great breakfast!). The DLR website will have info and menus on dining in all the on site hotels.

I have stayed there and liked it, but as others have mentioned, it is not what I would call a resort. But this is true of all three Disney hotels at DLR - we do not really have WDW-like resorts, they are basically just really nice themed hotels. While WDW is about the entire vacation experience, I find that trips to DLR are more about the parks themselves. For this reason, I typically choose to stay off-property on Harbor Blvd. because the walking distance is the same and the beds are just as soft. I don't find that the DLR hotels are worth their ridiculous prices.

Having said all that, as I mentioned, I enjoyed my stay at the PPH and if the price were discounted I would definitely stay there again.

Another fan of PPH, we have stayed there 3 times and enjoyed each stay. PRicing is Disney fair for what you get, and the price differential between the three Disney hotels is also fair for the step increase. The rooms at PPH are nice and bright, the pool deck is fun, slide great, and early morning entry is worth using.

The character breakfast is nice especially Stitch - he is awesome (and such a shame at ohana that’s he Ian just greeting you). DTD has a lot more dining options so I would tend to go there for a meal.

....I appreciate your honest comments - the reason we chose a DL hotel is we have almost 1500 points, so the mini trip won't be costing us anything [2-day park passes included]...last year my DS and his GF stayed at the Tropicana and said the location couldn't be beat...

GCV is our Resort of choice. All 3 of the Resorts have Character Dining. I have not stayed at the Disneyland Hotel Resort since my DD was 2 (now 19), we did not enjoy it as much as I did when I was a kid. We went in February and a lot of the stuff was closed which was a bummer. I miss the old shops and the monorail right there at the resort. Now you have to walk through DTD to get to the monorail.
Too bad they moved the hotel further away.........

We stayed at PPH once a few years ago and we're really happy with our stay. We booked the cheapest room and got a room with an amazing view of the fireworks and the park. Also - don't know if this is a standard thing but they dropped off complimentary Mickey rice krispy treats dipped in chocolate! At GCH we only get chocolate on the pillow! Now we stay at GCH on our trips bc of the location but have no qualms about staying at PP in the future

Well, I've never been upgraded before...maybe this will be the trip. :woohoo: I'm not checking in until the late morning/early afternoon though and it will be December 11th. Timing may not be in my favor.

Just for information, this is a "park/DTD view" from the Adventure Tower at the DLH.

....I know that I'm probably sounding like a nitwit, but what exactly am I looking at? I mean, I recognize the GCH and the Matterhorn in the distance, but other than that, I'm clueless...:confused3
