Newbie seeks point rental

Hi Everyone!

I've finally plucked up the courage to post after lurking for ages!!

My BF and I would really like to stay at BCV on 30/09 - 12/10 in a studio, which requires 166 points.
I've posted on the US boards, but it seems very competitive, so I thought I'd try nearer to home.

Last year we rented through another board and got a taste of the high life in OKW and SSR after years of staying in Coronado Springs. However, the thought of walking from our resort to ESPN is too attractive! We will split the stay over SSR if needed.

We live in by the sea in Poole and can provide lots of references to show we're nice honest people, and can pay up in full.

Thanks for listening, and I promise I won't lurk any more. Guilty pleasure... Friday afternoons spent looking at trip reports....

I'm not a DVC member (yet !!) but we rented points last year from a DIS member based in the U.S. He was great. I have no idea if he is renting out points this year or not but I will send you a private message with his DIS user name and a link to his profile so you can send him a message yourself. You never know, he might be looking for a renter again this year.

Congratulations for stepping out of lurksville . I think the US boards are your best bet, just because of the much higher numbers of DVC owners who post there.

I think the problem you may have is that you're well into the window in which any DVC owner can book at BCV and it could well be fully booked, at least for some of your stay, particularly as you need 14 nights. You would probably have had a greater chance of success if you'd been able to find someone whose home resort is BCV and they'd been able to book before the critical 7 month window when it becomes a free-for-all. Having said that, you haven't chosen the busiest time by any stretch of the imagination, so don't give up.

I'll keep trying the UK boards, but I get a bit English and get put off by the sheer volume of replies within about 10 seconds of a posting, so I just need to get typing quicker!!!
You are right, we should have decided earlier, but my subtle approach at home was probably too subtle until I made an Olivias style breakfast last Sunday! (couldn't find a yellow cardi... )

Just rang member services and no studios available at BCV or BWV for the dates you want. They have a one bed at Boardwalk but that would be a lot more points. Any of the other resorts interest you? I may be able to help with the points if it is around the original amount you suggested.

Thanks for replying. I'm sorry its taken ages for me to get back, but I was busy with DIYing and gardening over Easter. But, its back to my grindstone now, and the days in the sun seem like ages ago. Thank you for your kind offer. I'll send you a PM with some nitty gritty stuff on, but just wanted to check how much you would like per point?

We've now spoken on the phone and Sarah knows more about renting than I do! The first stage of getting the rooms booked is done now we are just working on the contract etc

Thank you all for checking out my first post. Thanks to Mikki (who has been great), I should have my holiday sorted! All I need to do now is be excited, wait for my confirmation and save up my pennies and dimes for Mikki.
