Hi everyone. We're new at this so have many questions. Dh is very interested in the cruise. We would do a 3 or 4 night cruise and then 3 or 4 nights at WDW. Two adults, one child. Wouldn't need to have a super duper room. Is this feasible in your opinions?? We would bank or borrow from one year to do this. I did check the book to see what the points were but just wondered if you all thought it was a good use of points based on previous knowledge. thanks a lot.

I have used points to do exactly what you describe. Was it the greatest use of points based on value? No it wasn't but it was hassle free and really neat to have our cruise and stay at Disney paid for in advance.

One thing to keep in mind if you do the four day cruise, you return to port on Thursday and may end up using lots of points for a Thursday, Friday, Saturday night stay at WDW. If you go on the three day cruise, you could stay at Disney Sunday through Wednesday night when the point use is much lower before you cruise on Thursday.

Even though it isn't a great value, it is lots of fun. You could also rent the points out and pay cash if you feel comfortable doing that.

Good luck.

but, it seems like many on the DIS would advise you to rent your points, use the cash to pay for the cruise...which works, if you want to go through arranging the point rental. We're not so sure if we would. But maybe where you're doing the shorter cruise/stay combo, it might work out to be a good option. Like you said in your countdown, WDW has all our $ too, and if going on a cruise is your preferred use of points...I'd say do it, it really would FEEL like going for free!
