Newbie Question About Reservations

We are closing on our SSR in two weeks, super excited!

My DH and I have been talking about trying to do BWV for Thanksgiving week or using our "home" SSR, I understand that you can do your "home" 11 months out and other resorts at 7 months out, is that day for day or by month, so does that mean on April 1 I can make a 7 month reservation for Nov 21? or do I need to wait until April 21?

Also, if we make a reservation for SSR at 9-ish months (since we close in March) are we able to do a wait list for BWV once the 7 month window opens, and how does the effect our points if we change our reservation from SSR to BWV?

day for day - you'd call on april 21 for check-in on nov 21 for up to 7 nights.

yes.

how does the effect our points if we change our reservation from SSR to BWV?

you would most likely have to cancel your SSR reservation in order to free up the points to book BWV.

Thank you so very much! For some reason I thought if you switched reservations any extra points from the original reservation would have something happen to them. I appreciate all the answers, it helps with planning!

For some reason I thought if you switched reservations any extra points from the original reservation would have something happen to them.

as long as you cancel the original reservation more than a month out, the points are not restricted. if you make the change while you are still within your banking window, you can bank any extra points.
