Looking to try to get some info from the experts!! We are planning on staying at Fort Wilderness the first of January. We will be going to Disney's Vero Beach and then staying at the Fort. We are trying to make this a budget friendly trip and will be staying in tents. My question is what is the best loop to stay in? I know 1500 and 2000 are the tent loops. I like 1500 cause it seems close to things but has fewer sites so I assume will be harder to get. 2000 is larger but seems to be a good ways out there. So my other question is what about the full hook up loops? 1600-1900 I believe. How many tents stay on these sites? Thanks for the responses!

The issue with a full hookup site is that its a cement pad with only a small area of sand in the back of the site. So while it could work for a tent, where you could setup the tent is limited for staking it down.

The 2000 loop is a little further away from the FW trading posts and the pool, but with the internal bus system, nothing is really far away. We go in january regularly, and I have little to no desire to head to the pool, though the backyard bbq, signalong and movie is nice, but you can still get a bus to and from the locations.

Camptn, welcome to the DIS Camping Board. :welcome: :disrocks:

Yes, 1500 is more popular and sought after. 2000 is further away but I wanted to show a short cut to the Meadow Trading Post for you or those who find themselves in 2000.

2000 has 2 Comfort Stations, one near the loop entrance and the other in the back. In the back, the sites on the outside of the circle back up to the group campsite called Creekside Meadows which has its own Comfort Station. Walk out of 2000 toward the CM CS.

At the CM CS, look to the right over the little sand hills past the fence portion is a storm ditch. Head for it.

There is a footbridge across the ditch to take you into 900.

From 900 loop it's a short walk to the Meadow Trading Post and Pool area.

To your other question, people put tents on Full/Preferred sites all the time (even Premiums too). Tent sites will save you the most money. The Full/Preferred sites have the coquina pad for a tent so they will work too.

Great info!! Thinking I may just need to call and request a 1500 site and ask for one with a larger pad since we have a large tent and shelter for the table.

Yes, when you make the request ask them to note the size of your tent (10x12 for example). Some of the coquina pads in 1500 are small (and some are quite large) so putting the size of your tent in the reservation will give the assigning CM the info they need to make sure your tent fits.

Thanks!! I will make the call.

And I won't hold it against you for being a Bama fan.

You're welcome, camptn. I can tell you're going to fit in here just fine.
