For those who have travelled from Newark to Orlando before, what did you pay for a return trip?

My pricing right now - for our trip Feb 29 - Mar 9 - is approx $209 + baggage fees. Is this about average pricing? Have you seen it any lower - or higher ?

I want to get my airfare booked soon - but if the price is higher than you'd expect it to be then I could wait abit before booking

I fly Newark to Orlando a couple times a year. I'm happy when I see 200 rt. I have seen lower but not very often. Did you check JetBlue if the price comes down you can get a credit and the first bag is free.

I agree anything around $200 is good/normal.

It seems like a good price to me. My daughter paid about that a couple months ago for a trip coming up in a couple of weeks, round trip from Newark to Orlando. A coach seat on her Continental flight (there are only a few seats left) is now $500! I would take the $200 seats, a good price especially if they include luggage.

Continental prices are $209 + $25 each way for baggage ($50) for a total of $259.

JetBlue is $253 with no baggage fees.

Departure times are pretty much the same. Since the prices are almost identical, can my American Dis'ers tell me which airline would be the better one to use ?

We always fly Continental, however I know people who love Jet Blue. Sorry, I can't help, but what about in flight amenities? Is there any difference?

Jet Blue has seat back entertainment systems.

You can get a full list of amenities by checking each airline's web site.

I'm a loyal continental flyer and $209 isn't bad. I've seen a lot of $188 lately. Last December I got $158, but I just happened to hit it right, think that rate only lasted a few days.

I've never flown Jetblue, but have heard great things about them. I also have heard they have the seatback entertainment, which continental usually doesn't on these shorter flights.

That is a good rate. I stopped booking roundtrip due to the rates always going up and down all the time plue the price war with Jet Blue so I might book one way for each: fly out on Continental and return on Jet Blue.
for our upcoming trip in October if I booked roundtrip w/Continental it would have been $250.
One great thing with Continental is fare lock where you can lock the rate for either 3 or 7 days. With me always looking at airfares I was able to lock in $99 one way for departure and for the return I locked in an $89 rate.

For our Thanksgiving trip Continental R/T was $382 pp so we are leaving on Continental one way $115 (Thanksgiving eve so of course its going to be higher) and returning a week later on Jet Blue $105

As far as amenities Continental is in the process of changing their fleets with in flight entertainment the difference is you have to pay for some of the features whereas on jet Blue its free and they have free snacks and soda

It depends on where in NJ you are but if you don't mind driving to another airport, often times you can get cheaper flights out of Philadelphia (PHL) or Atlantic City (ACY) but from Newark, that's a normal/good price.

To Orlando my choice is JetBlue. They have the seat back entertainment and more leg room than Continental. I fly Continental when I'm going somewhere JetBlue doesn't fly non stop out of Newark. I've not had any problem with either.

Can you fly out of Philly? It's usually cheaper and Southwest has some good deals.

I just looked up your dates and it's showing $89 there and anywhere between $111-$167 going back.

I also live in NJ and now I rarely fly to Orlando from Newark. Philly is further away for us, but it is cheaper to fly out of Philadelphia than Newark.

Southwest is not only less, you don't pay baggage fees.....

But if you must fly from Newark, $200RT is fair, but don't forget those baggage fees. Southwest via PHL is often $89 each way/ + no baggage fees.

Jetblue is $219 incl taxes if you fly JFK - MCO and TPA - JFK. I see you are from Riverview/Moncton so have yoy checked Bangor, Portland, Boston?

We're not willing to travel that distance (especially given the time of year and potential for storms). I'm flying from Moncton to the eastern USA using Airmiles - and then a cash price to Orlando. I'm trying to get the cheapest price I can.

RIght now, I am looking at trhe Orbitz website....205 rt including fees (non stop, Continental). So yes that would be right on target.

We are paying $205 next week on Continental from Newark. Thats a good price.
I'm ready to book our flights for our Fantasy cruise for May, 2012 and the price is $235+ from Newark. I'll wait on that trip for now.

It looks like I need to book two separate 1-way fares to get the best price. JetBlue on the way down is the cheapest (since no baggage fees). On the return, Continental is the cheapest.

Thanks for the replies....it looks like I'll be booking something later this week.
