I have a hard time sticking to the original hotel I book. I'm doubting my choice again for New Years. We've decided to definitely go, we are going to go up on the 30th and drive home on the 1st, go into the parks on the 31st. I'm not sure my Fiancé will be able to handle the crowds so I'm planning on viewing the fireworks from our hotel. Currently have the Polynesian club level booked and would watch from the beach.

Which of the following should I do? Prime firework viewing is our main objective
  • Stick with what we have - Garden view club level and watch from the beach
    • Is this option going to be really crowded on the beach. I picked Garden view to save money, but I'm worried now that the beach will be really crowded too and I should have a room that faces the theme park, but that option probably wouldn't have sound for the show?
  • Downgrade the room to a standard room at Poly and watch at the beach, I believe they get the standing room on the beach and club gets chairs?
  • Switch to theme park view at Bay Lake Tower-watch from balcony
  • Switch to theme park view at Contemporary-watch from balcony
    • I think I remember reading the TVs don't play the song like they do for the normal fireworks, that would probably make it less enjoyable not being able to hear the music.
  • Book a dessert firework viewing party in Magic Kingdom
    • Few concerns with this. One, not sure I'll get it, our stay isn't very long so others will have an advantage to book before us. Two, we'd probably have to go in the parks early to avoid issues with the park closing? If we do this option would probably downgrade room to a standard at any of the monorail resorts, but wouldn't want to do this until after booking which will make finding a room more difficult.
  • Book a firework cruise for Epcot to watch their fireworks
    • If I get this (another big if since I'm sure it books up fast) we'd switch to an Epcot resort which would be cheaper than a MK resort.

My Fiancé wants to stick with what we have, I don't think he likes that I change our resorts around a lot, but he also said he'd be okay if I do decide to change it. Currently the theme park views at BLT and Contemporary are not available, but I like looking all the time so figure I should get this sorted in case something pops up if I should jump on it or not.

It'll be our first New Years as husband and wife so it'll be a special time

Have you considered booking a cheaper room on the monorail and doing the New Year's Eve party at the Contemporary? They did this last year:

For guests 18 and up, Countdown to Midnight is a more formal affair taking place in the Fantasia Ballroom. The fun begins at 8 p.m. with a delightful culinary experience, boasting the best bites and wine pairings from Disney’s finest restaurants such as California Grill, Narcoossee’s and more. An indulging assortment of alcoholic beverages is included in the $250 ticket price for guests 21 and over.

An interactive DJ will have you moving and grooving to music spanning from the 1960’s to today. When you’re not busting a move on the dance floor or indulging in delicious goodies, you can pose in front of a fun assortment of backdrops. Mickey and Minnie are promised to make an appearance as well! The night closes with an amazing view of Magic Kingdom’s “Fantasy in the Sky” Fireworks Spectacular.

That would assure you a less crowded experience, I would assume, than standing on the Poly beach. Plus you get dinner and dancing!

That actually sounds really fun! Is this something that’ll be available at 180 days?
