New Year's Eve 2008 12/27/08 SEE POST#1 FOR LIST

Need some help - originally we had booked DCL transportation too and from MCO, but since our flight doesn't leave MCO till almost 8 on our return, we booked a car, and are planning on spending the afternoon at Downtown Disney. That leaves us trying to get from MCO on 12/27 to the Port - anyone ever use any of the limo/towncar services? How do they rate? I looked into *********** (on passporter website) but they can't pick us up till 10, and I wanted to be at the port by 10 - anyone help me here?

Someone must be pretty bored to count the number of responses we have had:confused3

Happy Monday,

It's another beautiful day in Sausalito and we had the Tour of California bike race go through town. It's amazing how meny riders there were in their tight fitting shorts. :woohoo: From what I understand, one of the lanes on Hwy 101was blocked off all the way to Santa Rosa. What that means is for about 15 miles there would only be one lane available for traffic. :scared1: I'm glad that I'm at work and not on the roads!

Hey! I already love Aisling too! I guess we know who the popular girl is going to be on this cruise!

I'm turning an unmentionable age this week and instead of going to Disneyland or the girls weekend (that was planned), at a timeshare in the Wine Country, I am once again going up to Oregon to deal with family issues. I'll tell you what if people don't start leaving me alone, I'm going to run away from them all and have a nice peacfull life. Here I go venting again. :sad2:

I can't believe that I have only posted 15 times. Now 16.

We usually rent a car from Budget because they are close to the port. They have a shuttle that will take you to the port after you drop the car off and you can catch the shuttle to pick up a car when you return.

Aisling, did you ever find an apartment in Paris for Chad?

so far i've managed to avoid the "bug" even though co-worker had it pretty bad & then right after her DH came down with it...keeping finger's x'd that i'm healthy enough to let it blow right by me....it's bad enough just getting my eye to completely heal...Hoping dr. tells me tonite that it is fine!

Get well soon Kaz!!!!:wizard: no fun being

Ditto!

Gosh Colleen....school today????? they are supposed to give you a day off!!!! we're all going to take off early today....our phones haven't even rang except my boss (who is in Mexico) - not a holiday for them;) & a couple of sales cold calls....

Yeah, we had school...it's ok, days off just mess up my schedule ;)

Rent a car, you can probably get a better rate for the day than any car service will give you...

btw-the post counts can be seen by everyone. From the main board for cruise meets, the poster count on the right has the breakdown built into it.

hi all....well back to cold gloomy day here today...with rain starting tomorrow thru the wkend....(nothing like Deb's beautiful Sausalito weather...just a couple hrs north)....oh well...leaving for San Diego early Sat a.m. - is supposed to be gorgeous & quite warm there...hope the weather channel knows what they're talking about....

oh Deb...what a crummy way to spend a BD  ...no matter the age...you know it's only a number...no worries on that...maybe you can take that trip to DL or Napa another wkend....:wizard:

So where is our Aisling & Nan??? Kaz are you feeling better???

hi to all you other lurkers....

I just checked some car rental rates...they were about $40ish - we are just going to get up early the morning of the 27th...get a shuttle to the car rental booth & drive to the port...it might be a little more to drop the car at the port rather than returning to MCO...but like Tigg said; probably a lot cheaper than a car service & Rus has made the drive a few times....so knows where he's going....

Debbie, we're looking for an apartment for Chad in Rome, Italy, and it isn't easy. Fr. Casey may have some connections, but I wish the university would help. Since Chad's a grad student, he's on his own as far as housing. They only place undergrads. I'm even looking into him renting a room in a priest residency, since I found out a local convent rents out rooms to women summer university students. Something will work out, I feel it in my heart.:goodvibes

Hey Debbie, if you ever want to run away from family, give me a call, we can be Thelma and Louise, but without running the car off the cliff!!!!:rotfl:

Brenda, I forgot to answer that Jesse will be 16 on April 21st. I had a very long and difficult labor, with him having to be delivered by c-section. He was a big baby, almost 9 lbs, and his poor head just couldn't get into proper position to come out, called occipital transverse lie. I have a normal hip bone to hip bone measurement for birthing babies, but my front to back bone measurement is narrow. Chad was a breeze, at almost 7 lbs and a 3 hour natural birth from first pain till delivery. Sorry Grim!!!!!!!!!!!!!

By the way, Grim, can you post the pic of you when Piper was born when you were wearing a shirt that said "Grim" on it??? Pretty please!

Kaz, WTH you're still not feeling well???? You need some Florida sunshine, young lady! Truly I hope you're getting enough rest, because we all know that it's difficult for moms to be under the weather, especially when taking care of hubbies. How are the kids doing?

Tig, how's John?? Is he able to use his arms normally? I really cringed when I saw the pics of his injuries, how painful. The poor guy, but I love your attitude, that you told him you'll get through it together. That's beautiful, and I mean it sincerely. He's a lucky man.

Robin, I wish I could help with your transportation questions, but I've only just now begun my transport planning. Not sure yet if we're doing the DCL bus or limo, or rental car. Last cruise, we rented from Budget to get us to Tampa to fly out of there since I got less expensive airfares there, only to find when I showed up at the office that my license had been suspended due to not turning in my old plates! I give Budget recommendations for having prompt shuttles from the port to their office, for having the exact car as promised, and for not charging me the rental. They had every right to have me forfeit that fee, but they were kind and let me out of the contract. I was a nervous wreck, alone with my 2 kids, no car, stuck in POrt Canaveral with a flight to catch in Tampa. The Budget agent calmed me down, advised me to call our airline, tell them what happened, and have them put us on a flight out of MCO. Then Budget called a cab company to pick us up to bring us to MCO to make the flight. So I had a very good experience with Budget Rental company. I'll let you know what we decide on, as I'm going to spent the next few days working on my Microsoft Word Cruise Plans Document!

I'm still waiting for Jetblue to open their December fares. I need to use them because I already have $900 in my Jetblue account from my cancelled Cali trip.

Tig, I heard a rumor that you wear uniforms at your college!

:rotfl: :cool1: :thumbsup2

Brenda, how's your eye? What exactly happened to it? I'm so sorry, I thought it wasn't serious, but it seems as it is! What did the doctor say. Please tell me you were only joking on another thread when you said you're legally blind without your contacts!

Tig, I'm going to look at your Chinese New Year photos now.:thumbsup2

Nan, don't you love us anymore????????????????????????:dance3:

EDITED to add that due to the high number of anti-Hillary PMs I've been getting, I'm caving in and removing her campaign banner from my siggie.

I love tight fitting shorts. ::yes:: :smokin:

Yikes!!!! & i thought Ryan was a hard baby - he was sideways...as he had been breach up until about 3 wks before his due date...so to turn then was too hard & he couldn't turn completely...anyway....he was finally born -----36 hrs later

I'm still waiting for Jetblue to open their December fares. I need to use them because I already have $900 in my Jetblue account from my cancelled Cali trip.
THAT IS GREAT you have that available to use!!!! when do they open their fares? You saw that we got our flights for $332/each:woohoo: :woohoo: i thought that was a FANTASTIC price - as it's 36 mins from Monterey to San Francisco & then non-stop to MCO - so really i just consider it a NS flt - as the trip from MRY to SFO is more a less just getting us in & out of a much EASIER airport & $200 less than flying straight out of SFO...which i still don't understand that...but i'm not complaining!

Tig, I heard a rumor that you wear uniforms at your college!

:rotfl: :rotfl: LOVE THOSE!!!!

Please tell me you were only joking on another thread when you said you're legally blind without your contacts! It's really much better - thanks! i even have my contacts in today!!!:woohoo: The only thing the dr. can tell is that i must have torn the cornea - just a small tear & then something from the environment got into that tear & created bacteria that was aggravating the cornea even more so....without glasses / contacts, my vision is 20/200 - so yep...pretty much blind

Tig, I'm going to look at your Chinese New Year photos now.:thumbsup2

:sad2: awww....you can support & vote for whoever you like! it was a really tough decision for me Feb 5th....& i really didn't know who it was going to be until that moment!!!

I wish it was in Paris, Aisling, as we have a tiny appartement there which Chad could've used in a heartbeat. I hope he finds something soon...

I 'ran away' from my family after my Mother died and it was the best thing I could've done - I've never regretted it tho' no cliffs or Brad Pitts were involved... :)

Samuel will be 15 on May 30th - where oh where does the time go??? He was a difficult birth too - posterior presentation, is that similar to what you refer to, Aisling? He was scheduled for a home birth but nothing was happening so I enjoyed a mercy dash to the hospital where he was delivered by forceps (without any pain relief :scared: ) - all 10lbs 4oz of him!!! :scared1: Strangely enough his sister was in the same position when she was born (also forceps but with an epidural - phew!!) 10 years earlier - she weighed in at 9lbs 4oz! Matty was an easy birth and an easy baby but also big at 9lbs 12oz!!! Unfortunately I've never been able to have any more kiddiwinks despite several attempts - tho' I think Richard's always been relieved as he was worried they'd just keep getting bigger... :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

If any men are reading - here's some manly pics to beef up the post...

I'm just sickly at the moment, Aiz! I almost get over one bug or infection and along comes another to knock me back down again!! It's a thorough bore - all I want is to be 100% again... I've missed all four of the big Art fairs in London (I make pocket money buying/selling artwork thro' a local gallery) so no pennies for me this year!!! :sad2: I am taking it easy and getting plenty of rest - TBH I feel so awful I actually can't do much else!!!! Kids are good, thank you for asking! I'm sitting next to Samuel who's playing on the Wii - he's about to complete some Mario game. I'm just letting him get on with it as he had a great half-term report and I know the boy works hard at school - he needs some chill time... Matty just got back (literally a couple of hours ago) from a few days in NYC with his girlfriend Alex! Don't know much of the details yet - he's not a great sharer of information - but sounds like they had a good time... Sophie's working hard and doing great tho' Citi are about to embark on yet another global cost cutting round so fingers crossed she keeps her job... Richard has very much lost heart with Citi so is thinking of putting himself forward for voluntary redundancy. He's got an opportunity to be involved in a start-up with some buddies which is very tempting so we'll have to see what happens...

And that's life chez Taylor... :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

Hi all.. just wanted to post a HI!! I hope everyone is doing well.. I have been reading along....

I am still cruising the airfares from Boston, and nothing under $700 ea. yet.. But did get the updated confirm from DCL that my air add on was updated. Now I will wait and see what JetBlue and Southwest have to offer and I will either keep or delete the air from my cruise portion.

I am sooooo excited and can not wait for the cruise!!

Brian's bday is in June, and he is a giant Red Sox Fan.. and given that he said no more Disney til the cruise, I wanted to plan something fun for his bday. I booked a Toronto Canada and Niagra Falls trip for late August, which includes 2 games in Toronot against the Blue Jays.. That is all that is exciting going on here.

Morning all...

Kaz....P&PD to you to get back to 100% and the best of luck to Sophie with Citibank & to whatever decision Richard makes! Those decisions are always life's hardest! I had to make one 5 yrs ago but have to say that coming over to Cal Pacific was one of the best decisions i have made!

hope you all have a great Wednesday! BBl8r

:wave2: from snowy souther Ohio

we are off to Canton Ohio in the morning - Kara's 2 relays that she is on for high school swim team qualified for the Ohio state high school swim meet - hopefully we won't get snowed in there - we got iced in there last year and had to find rooms late at night

Good Morning Magic Mateys,

Aisling, I love the idea of running away. How about a trip to Europe. We can start at Kaz's apartment in Paris and then to England to visit with Kaz and then through Germany, Switzerland and then to Italy to visit Chad. That's a nice dream isn't it? Girlfriend, I think you and I could have the best time anywhere we would go!:woohoo:

I'm no longer going up to Oregon so that means my girls weekend is still on.:dance3: I have Friday to myself and then on Saturday afternoon the girls will show up with food and drink. We are going to drink, eat, watch movies, play games, hot tub it and party it up. A big, old ladies, slumber party! I am so looking forward to this weekend but Jeff is being Jeff and we have fought about it for days. He feels that we should be spending this weekend together since it is my birthday and I should want to spend it with him. He doesn't seem to be able to understand that if things were different between us, I probably would want to spend it with him. I think that he's afraid that I'll like having a fun peacefull weekend and not want to go back home. He's more then likely right!

So far for my birthday week; My older son has taken Jeff and I to dinner and he says that he has ordered me a present and he hopes he will get it by Friday. This is so special to me because he ususally forgets and I end up reminding him a week later. He's growing up! I have Thursday and Friday off and am going to focus on me by getting my nails done, lunch with my dad, shopping, going to the movies and relaxing. As Jeff says (and not in a nice way),"it's all about me." AS IT SHOULD BE!

I wish you all a great rest of your week. I'll post on Monday and tell you how my weekend went.

:grouphug:

Crazy, busy day yesterday and today. Sis and family came down from upstate NY to look at city colleges for my nephew. He was offered a full scholarship at St. John's Uni, which is fantastic, because it's a primo school, but the kid doesn't want to go there because he has a girlfriend he doesn't want to leave! Well, she's a year ahead of him, and she didn't mind leaving HIM to go to college 3 hours away. So now he'll be 6 hours away, big whoop. My BIL said if the boy doesn't accept the scholarship, he's on his own financially. They won't go into debt for a four year degree when there's a free education in hand!!!
So they're staying with me for a few days, which is not easy, as my sis has OCD and is driving us crazy. She has a heart of gold, and I'm being very kind and understanding, but I've had to get out of the house more than a few times just to take a breath!

More seriously, my brother was ambulanced to the hospital yesterday with chest pains, and I'm sitting outside the hospital now waiting to be able to get in to see him. I love NYC, and the care you get in any of the hospitals is great, but the RED TAPE is horrendous. The staff in every hospital is overworked and rude (not the doctors), and I would use stronger words but it'll cost me Dis points. And now my sis calles me and says she should have come with me to the hospital, and wants me to go back to pick her up. She keeps changing her mind, but she'd like that about EVERYTHING, her OCD I guess. She told me not to call my parents until we know for sure that my brother will be OK, but then she goes and calls them, and now my 83 year old father wants to jump in his car and drive from upstate to be here. My mother is a crying wreck, and she's an alcoholic, so I suspect she'll be starting her drinking early today because of this. But from the info I've gotten from my brother's wife, his life is not in danger, so no need to panic.

Then I call Fr. Casey to tell him, and as we were hanging up, he says "good night", and I think, Oh God no, don't let this man be losing his mind on me. I need my rock, but I can't depend on him anymore to be my rock since his Parkinsons and diabetes is taking it's toll on him. I have to be HIS rock now. Lord give me strength.

The good thing is that I'm OK:thumbsup2 , handling everything well, I'm calm, but I so want to have a nervous breakdown right about now just to let it all out.

Ok, to make things worse:lmao: I have to go to the bathroom so bad right now, and guess what I'm going to do? I'll give you a hint, it has to do with my empty McDonalds cup and my car's tinted windows!;) :thumbsup2 :rotfl: :rotfl: :scared1: :hippie: Laugh with me pals, laugh AT me or WITH me, but just laugh because I can use a good hearty one!!!!!!

I'll be back on later, hopefully with a few shots of Bailey's Irish Cream in me, and giddy as a loon. (See, I mention "Irish" cream, and it brings my mind back to Casey and how worried I am about him.)

Ok, I'm going to pick up sis now. I'll be alright, I am woman , hear me roar!!

LYMI

Sending you big 's

I'll be alright, I am woman , hear me roar!!

This should be our motto!!!

Deb, repeat after Aisling...

I'll be alright, I am woman , hear me roar!!

it's absofrigginlutely all about us!!!
