Happy Monday Magic Matey's,

It looks like it's time for the lurkers to pick up the slack. :rotfl:

DH sent me Valentine and Anniversary flowers today. They are very pretty and that was very nice of him. Now if I wasn't again unhappy with him, he might have gotten rewarded. :confused3 Oh well, maybe someday he'll smarten up. I don't know about the rest of you but I would rather get a couple of roses from the store with a gift certificate for a massage or for a mani & pedi. I know, I sound like an unappreciative wife. The reason for that is a discussion DH and I had about my starting to get my nails done again. His reaction was that it would be too expensive and I wasn't going to bankrupt us. OK, so I'm going to bankrupt us by spending $20 a month on myself but he can turn around and send me $80 flowers that will be thrown away in a week. Not only that, we are going to dinner and dancing on Valentine's Day and then the following weekend we are going away for the weekend and going wine tasting which means we will buy at least $200 worth in wines. At this point I don't want to do either one of those things. The cost for all of that would pay form my nails for 2 years!

I checked the Delta flights from San Francisco and they were $544. I've been trying to check the rates for Frontier because we have enout air miles for 2 tickets. Unfortunatly, their website keeps giving me error messages. I better call them this evening and see what they can tell me.

I hope that everybody is doing well.

Tigg, I'm happy to hear that your DH is mending. Your skateboard pictures were great especially the action shots.

I hear ya Nan...one vacation atatime~

You buying the internet access when you go? I'd love to hear from you straight from the Ship!

Thanx Deb, I really enjoy taking extreme sports photos~I just need to get over there more often and practice my technique...

I'm looking forward to doing the Chinese parade next weekend and the flower show after that....I'm in heaven when I can take unique and beautiful photos.

The theme for the flower show this year is Jazz :woohoo:

I honestly think finances work better for DH and me cause we keep our incomes seperate...he pays specific bills and I pay the others. Sometimes we help each other out when necessary. Bonus is, someone could go get her nails done and noone needs to get permission to spend their own money.

...just sayin...

yes we will for work purposes for Paul, but I think it will be slowwwwwww.

I've made note to say HI from the ship and will do so, but for now not knowing how slowwwwww it will be I'll only commit to a HI :rotfl: that to you people that don't know me means at least a paragrapgh of long ramble. :lmao:

I must chime in here. We don't keep our separate. It's not about that in my mind. It's about we are both adults and choose to spend money where and when we choose to spend money. We have a rule not to spend more than $500 without telling each other (which amounts to us having a discussion on it if necessary) We mutually respect each other and therefore we don't argue about this stuff....most of the time...we do argue about how to spend what we spend...I tell him to buy Wilson a new go-kart, nope he buys a used one and then spends WAYYYYYY more on fixing it than he would have with a new one in the first place.

What do couples fight about?

Sex
Money
Religion

If you can't get those right, I think it's gonna be a long life with that person you choose to spend it with.:rolleyes1

hi all...missed you all very much!!! Eyes are much better - not 100% yet...but should be by friday....

going to go & check airfare now...but wanted to say hi = see how everyone is doing....

just my $.02 = i work TOOOOOO hard to not have a few 'just for me' rewards....my nails are one...(i don't drink - don't smoke) but i like to shop.....Our salaries go into one account & all household bills are paid from that acct....Dh pays some (via check) & i pay certain other ones - usually online pmts....my CM account is MY $$ - & typically pays for something DISNEY....DL - cruises - WDW...whatever....

Morning Magic Matey's,

Thank you all for your input. DH and I have talked about having seperate accounts but I'm not willing to pay 1/2 of his $3000 house payment. I am willing to pay what it would cost for me to rent an apartment which would be $1200. I'm also not willing to pay 1/2 of any bills he brought into the marriage. I offered to get a 2nd job for my spending money but then he wants 1/2 of that. Forget the 2nd job! Not only that if I did get a 2nd job I would be away from home more and then when I want to go spend the day with friends and family, I wouldn't be able to without a huge fight. We have agreed that if we spend $50 or more we will talk about it first. I'm OK with that mostly because he is actually the big spender not me. The next suggestion I had was for each of us to take $3600 from our income tax return and that is our spending money for the year. That would give us $400 a month. That would be for our going out, pampering & trip with friends or family money. He didn't like that either. What it comes down to, is that with his house payment it's tight every month and in his mind he has a wife and wives like to spend money.

I'm sorry I'm a little depressed this morning. DH does have some good qualities but there are a few that I'm not sure I can live with and I think I'm at the point of no return.

It's actually been the worst year of my life.

I'm so sorry Deb, but i truly don't believe this guy deserves a wife.....seems to me that he's living in 'his own little world' and possibly not the "real world"

Awww Deb - you're having a crappy time and entitled to be depressed! I'm so sorry you're going thro' this and I hope you decide what's best for you soon. TBH I'm shocked by your DH's attitude - sounds like he wants a silent partner rather than a wife... :sad2:

Hi dear friends,

I've been away in North Dakota and Minnesota visiting my new 2 month old nephew. It really raised my spirits. It was in the minus degrees every day, but I love the "big sky" part of the country, so the weather didn't faze me. I'm very tired right now, had to drive 5 hours from ND to catch a plane in Minneapolis. Thank God, no kiidding, for Chad's GPS that he loaned me for the rental car. I missed my kids SO MUCH, and I'm glad to be home, but I've found that I love traaveling solo, like I'm all grown up now LOL.

My love to you all, I'll catch you tomorrow. Brenda, take care of your eyes! Tig, I'll look to your photoss tonight, I really need to sleep , but I'm very proud of you. Nan, whens Wilson's b-day, one of these days I know. Kaz, hiya, I can see you with your big sunglasses aand hhair kerchief blowing in the breezr driving with the top down, the caars top, not YOUR top LOL. Kelly, Jill, Grim, Kay, Marla, Robin,:goodvibes

Debbie, you know I'm thinking of you. I so wish we could get together to talk and have some girl time. Very much looking forward to meeting you.

Good morning, Magic Mateys,

I've been busy trying to find Chad a decent and reasonably-priced apartment in Rome, as he leaves in May for classes there. He's looking to get an internship at the U.S. consulate there, so he's about to embark on an exciting and totally unfamiliar chapter in his life. He's been listening to Italian language CDs in his car, to at least have a rudimentary grasp of the language when he gets there. He's fluent in Spanish, so that helps, as the two languages are similar. I'm so happy for him, that he's gotten this far in his dream to do government work. He graduates with his Masters in Political Science from St. John's University next year, and then on to his PhD. He's been working so hard, classes full time and two part-time jobs, and I pray he achieves all that he's been dreaming of since he was a little kid. He really looks to be on the right track.

My Jesse is another story. If anyone knows how to help me get him to keep his room clean and do his homework, I'd be very grateful!!!!!!!!!!!!! He'll be 16 in April, and I was planning a sort-of male "sweet sixteen" party, but we decided to keep costs down and just have a family/friends party at home. He's fine with that, as he knows we have a cruise to pay for. I've been looking at reception halls/restaurants to throw a big party, but it would cost a few thousand, so we'll just wait until his 21st and then go all out, like we did for Chad. It's actually ridiculous the way sweet sixteens are celebrated around these parts, for girls AND boys, with parties like wedding receptions. Thank goodness he's such a laid-back kid, who'd rather hang out with his friends with pizza and soda instead of doing the My Super Sweet Sixteen thing. To be honest, I was really wanting to do a big party more for my own satisfaction, to feel like I'm doing my best for him, but he really isn't into the idea, so there's no disappointment on his part, and I save a ton of money.

I have some housework to keep me busy today, and then looking forward to the weekend of just lounging around.

So how's everyone doing?
