I've thought about writing kid's books, I think I'll do better doing photobooks - Aisling -

My next gd project is to make four original stamps. I'm gonna go see if I have the four Disney park icons and make a series from them~I first thought of doing four looks of the castle, but that would include the pink version and NOBODY seems to like the castle in her pink version.

Morning all...back from a very successful convention in San Diego where the weather was awesome & leaving later this afternoon for DISNEYLAND!!! Ended up that it's Ryan & I, my friend Stacey & her son Andrew & another of the boys' friend, Kaohu (or Kiwi)...we will have all day tomorrow FEB 29th and Sat at the parks! I have NEVER been to DL on Feb 29th!!!! Today / tomorrow are Bishop's Holidays - a gift from the Bishop to the St Francis students...& Ryan told me last night that some other of his friends are also going down for the wkend so sure we'll run into them as well!

Back on Sunday! have a great wkend!

Sounds great, Brenda!!! Have a fabulous weekend... :goodvibes This Sunday is our Mother's Day in the UK so my merry band are taking me out for lunch and I can't wait - more champagne, please!!!:thumbsup2

I'm better now (touch wood etc) - saw the Dr this morning and she was pleased with my progress so no more antibiotics for me, thank goodness!!! :woohoo:

Gotta go food shopping now as the doggies are out of kibble and there'll be a riot if I haven't rectified the situation by 5pm!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Catch you later...

Howdy boat mates!!! Haven't been back to this particular thread in a little bit so I apologize for that. Been crazy as heck with the kids, work, my brothers affairs (he's in Iraq) and now to top it off I just got voted in for trustee of my HOA (yes I like pain).

Anyone planning on either staying at WDW the day before the cruise, etc? I've been sitting here thinking about how we should get from the resort to the boat but 1) I don't want to wait for DCL transportation as I would like to get to the boat early and 2) like it when I don't have to drag my luggage around (i.e. renting a car, etc.) - if you are staying the night before at WDW how are you getting to the port? Anyone interested in doing a combined van for cost reasons? It's just my husband, DD (5) and DS (2) and myself. If not, and again you guys don't know me from some person just off the streets, that is ok.

Also - I would LOVE to do the ruins excursion but with my son so young I don't think my husband (or me) will be able to go. I have also read where, although my daughter is old enough to go, that they don't recommend that any one younger than 8 should go - thoughts? Anyone else going to do the ruins excursion?

In answer to the ruins. in 2004 my daughter Laurie & granddaughter Allyssa & I did the ruins. It was truly interesting to Laurie & I; but, Allyssa was terribly bored & became moody. She was around that age at that time.

Kamakazies Yea

I have a headache.. but only because I started a diet today.. so no diet pepsi.. which is giving me the w/drawals!!! YIKES!

Kelly, what diet are you on that you can't have diet soda??

Anjelica, there you are! I thought you abandoned us!!:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

We're staying at Pop the night before the cruise, and am also wondering about getting to the port. We did the DCL bus the last time, but at $70 a head, with 5 of us this time, we were thinking of a limo. Where are you staying the night before?

I'm still working on excursion options, but my kids are grown, so we have different issues other than age, like no one agreeing on what excursions to do.

By the way, I also have a brother who has done two tours in Irag and one in Afghanistan. He's home on base now, but his time is coming around again, he thinks in the spring.

Brenda, welcome home! Say hi to Mickey for me in DL, even though when my kids were little, they said the REAL Mickey was in WDW!:rotfl:

Kaz, call me a dunce, but will you please explain to me the difference between England and Great Britain? I know the United Kingdom is inclusive of Wales, Northern Ireland, and Scotland (and a few other places I can't remember.) Thanks, hon. I want to be a very educated Yankee when you meet me!:cool1:

Marla, you out there? How did your daughter do with her swim meet??

edited to add: Anjelica, I took a look at your web page, and your children are sooooooooooooooo cute!

OK, England is a part of Great Britain, which is the largest island in the British Isles and comprises of England, Scotland and Wales which are 3 different countries. Great Britain is a part of the United Kingdom which also includes Northern Ireland. I am English, have a British passport but prefer to think of myself as European... ;) Geddit??????? :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2:

First, Aisling - thank you for the comments on the kids. My husband and I "tried" to have cute kids and guess we were lucky (LOL).

We are actually staying at VWL from Monday December 22nd, through Saturday, December 27th. You guys coming in the night before the cruise or staying for a few days before? As we get closer maybe we can look at options for traveling to the port either sharing ideas or even the transportation (if interested). I know this time around I want to get to the port early as last time we didn't get there till 1ish, etc. and took forever to get checked in.

Yeah - Chas is up in the mosul area right now. He's a combat engineer and I knew before he went over he would be in danger but it didn't really hit me until he called a few months ago and stated he hurt his knee - Diving from an rpg - NICE.

I so gotta sit near your family. I LOVE british accents. Even the children sound so "grown-up" with their accents.:)

Ahhhh - bummer. I would hate to miss the ruins but I don't necessarily want to drag my daughter along or even go by myself. How long, total, is the excursion for the ruins? Wonder if its just a morning thing if we should plan on booking our son for flounders and having daughter go to oceaneer club (if they are open).

Hopefully no one gets upset at that proposal as I know some folks feel very strongly about leaving their children and going on excursions but I feel you have to do what you are comfortable with.

I believe then it was a 4 hour tour & we met at noon. It may have changed. The Disney Cruise Line has a site for Disney Destinations that will highlight the different excursions. You can get the passporter book that will tell all you need to know, time, cost & they even rate the excursions from good to bad. Or, burnbaums (check the spelling) puts out a book.

there used to be a site called ******************* some people would put copies of the "personal navigator" there. Deb Wills has a site where she gives info on the cruise line.

apparently they edited the site & deleted the site

OMG - be careful what you wish for!!! There'll be 7 of us, all talking our heads off!!! :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao:

We (DH and I) did the Tulum Ruins excursion in September - we met in the morning at 9.30am and returned at around 4pm, so pretty much a full day. We absolutely LOVED it and would do it again but the family want to go to Xcaret...

So it seems flounders and oceaneers club is out of the question - oh well. Is there anyone going on the excursion from the boards here? Maybe I can tag along....:) Maybe as we get closer to the date. I am a big history fan and I love very old civilization, etc. I took my daughter with me to Italy this past Xmas (to visit my sister) and we went to Rome for a few days. Did the whole palantine hill and colessum - I LOVED it (and yes I am hoping the DCL goes back to the mediterrean in 2010 so my husband would get the chance to explore Europe, etc.).

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. I went to Rome as a teen and was overcome - would love to re-visit as an adult... The highlight of my recent years was a visit to Egypt and seeing the Sphinx and the Pyramids!!! Truly awesome... :worship: :worship: :worship:

John let me sleep in today, I just got up :)

I've got some laundry to do~

I'll be by later to chat...

Anjelica, if we do the ruins, you can come with us. My 22 year old son is interested, as he's a big history buff. And it's a coincidence that you said your're staying at VWL, because we're booked at Pop, but I was looking into the WL, as we've never stayed there before. If we do book there instead, maybe we can share a ride to the port. We're coming in the day before, spending Christmas at home, and then hopefully taking the 6 am flight out of NYC, so at least we'll have a full day at WDW.:woohoo:

Have you been to Turkey? My father was born there, and when I was a teenager, I went on a trip there with him. Istanbul is an ancient and modern city all in one, and one day I'd love to go back.

And Kaz, I agree with Anjelica; I can't wait to hear your accent!!

I was just talking to Brittany about her cruising details...

We determined she and her bro will most likely fly down the 26th too. She likes the idea of staying where your crew does Aisling...maybe I'll even fly them down on Jet Blue with you :scratchin

She's really looking forward to cruising with yours and Nan's crews again ::yes::

I'm gonna go pull out my Passporter and Birnbaums books and check out the differences of all the ruins tours offered...what's the common consensus here, Tulum or Xcaret???

GREAT idea!

We chose Pop because it's only about $139 for the night, but I'm going to check the prices elsewhere, too.

About the ruins, I haven't even compared the two places yet! Gonna do that now!
