I would like to arrive at WDW on New Years Day, and stay about a week next time I go. When do the crowds start to thin out- do they still have decorations up at the resorts? When do they start to scale back hours at the parks after Christmas? Thanks!

We were at WDW Jan 1-5 this year. Crowds were still heavy until the 3rd, but the 1st and 2nd were Sat and Sun, so maybe that was why. Christmas decorations were still up at the resort thru our stay. Osborne lights at Studios came down after the 2nd. Parks were open until at least 9pm(except AK) during our stay. Hope this helps. :earsboy:

Last year we went from Jan 2nd - Jan 7th.

The 2nd was still a bit busy....lots of people checking out, but many going into the parks as well.

By the 3rd we were just walking onto all the rides...even the popular ones.

Sounds like a good time to go. If my DS can keep his grades up to be able to miss a few days. How is the weather the first of Jan? Is it warm enough to swim?
