NEW Wilderness Lodge FAQ!!

Thats funny you should say that- I have stayed in a woods view room (otter pond) in 1998 and that would be my only basis for comparison, however, that was 4 years ago and ground floor so we only had a patio. I did feel very closed in this time on the balcony and there wasnt much of a breeze to speak of. I wouldnt be surprised if they are smaller on that floor- it could have been an optical illusion due to the dormer set up tho'.
DH swore they were smaller and that the rooms up there were darker.
Still would do it again in a heartbeat!

Hi. Is the fax number for WL 1-407-824-3232? I have tried a couple of times this morning to send a fax, and it keeps failing. Any ideas? Thank you!

When I tried faxing a few weeks ago, my two-page fax (cover page and separate page) kept failing so I changed it to a one-page fax with the message on the cover sheet and it worked. I don't know if it was just coincidental but it is something to try.

Also, I just want to thank the room assigner who did honor our request. We had a Standard View reservation but I think we may have ended up with a Woods View room. I requested North Side, near the elevator with a view of MK and we got it. It was really neat seeing the fireworks from our room. Cinderella's Castle was somewhat blocked by trees but we could still see it and the view of the fireworks was better than when we were in the park.

SheilaCNJ, Thank you! I think I finally got it to go.

I'm so excited. We'll head out Thursday after work, and be there on Friday.

Yeah! Only 12 more days and then I am free!! I will be relaxing at WL and spending a Fairy Tale Honeymoon with my soul mate! How great is that? Sorry, I just had to share my excitement.

What is the best Concierge room for a view of the castle? I would love to watch the fireworks from our room at least once.
Thanks!

Heather K.

I apologize if this question has been asked & answered....but here goes:

The rooms at the end of the U - closest to the lake - are these rooms considered woods view or courtyard view?

Well, here I am home from my 2 weeks (actually 15 days) and we had a ball! We upgraded to concierge from Courtyard view for about 45/night and it was so worth it especially from the breakfast viewpoint. DH and kids loved the 'snack foods' all day and the service was fun. So was being able to stick the card in the slot in the elevator to gain access to the 7th floor.
Ill be posting a trip report in about a week but in general, we were very happy with everything except the transportation which was not bad enough to ruin the trip by any means, just inconvienient sometimes.
Got to be flag family which was great fun- did Family Magic Tour which I highly recommend.
MNSSHP was TERRIFIC on the 20th. The most spectacular fireworks Ive ever seen. Really really fun night.
Ok, more later- thanks to everyone who helped me out here! Esp AskMickey and Humphrey the bear. BTW, we had room 7043 which had bunks but no view of MK- excellent courtyard view instead which was awesome- could still see the EWP from the balcony. I too felt the beds were on the small side but if they had been any bigger would have overpowered the room.
Excellent lodgekeeping as well.
NancyL

How is concierge different than courtyard, beside the obvious that it is an upgrade. Wehave ressies for a courtyard room and I have requested bunk beds. Do they have the bunks at the concierge level, will they sometimes upgrade for free? Do you know of a good courtyard room that I could request if we cant swing the $45 extra a night? I am desperate to know what courtyard room could be good...let me know when you get a chance. thanks!!

:jester: ufalum... I definetly like the woods view rooms =over the otter pond the best. I think they are such a peacful getaway. You are at WDW, things are crazy hectic all day long, I like the calm of those rooms better than the hustle and bussle of the courtyard rooms (just my opinion). as for a view of the fireworks. Some of the rooms in that area can see the fireworks, but that depends on the time of year and how full the trees are. They are really hit or miss. I like the 5th floor rooms here simply because they are higher and they have the open balconies (the 6th floor in this area is the dormer balconies)

:bounce: NancyL... you can call the resort directly at 407-824-1044. That is the phone number for the phones room (which is basically a chairs roll from the room assigner. Who ever answers there should be able to assist you or they will put you directly through to the room assigner. Just so you know the concierge rooms that face MK are the rooms that overlook the service area. They are a GREAT view from in the room, just don't look down when you are on the balcony). As far as tips go, the CM's that do turndown are "lodge"keeping (WL always has to be different :) ) as well, you can tip them seperatly, but that is totally up to you. The concierge team is also allowed to accept tips. The front desk is not allowed to accept any cash tips, but the CM's that work on concierge are allowed to, so that too would be at your discretion, if they helped you with something special or went out of their way for you...don't feel that you have to tip them because they are there. Not sure about kids bathrobes, can't say that I have ever seen them, but you can purchase the adult robes if you want them, they are in the mercantile. Have fun on your trip....

HI, I really need an expert's help. We are booked for a courtyard/standard at WL. I have made a request for inner courtyard with bunks. WE do not leave for another 20 days so I have not actually faxed this request yet. What, in your opinion,is the best coutyard standard room to request, what floor....does it matter what floor? Can I get bunk beds? Let me know. Thanks! :D

dream trip - i can't help with room numbers with bunk beds as we had two queens. however, we were on 5th floor inner courtyard at the bottom of the U. this was a great location, very convienent to the elevator, you could look out over the lobby when you came out of your room and the view from the balcony showed the pool, geiser, lake, and ewp at night. when the pool is lit up at night it is very festive. i would definitely recommend asking for inner courtyard, bunk beds when you fax your request. have a great time!

oh - perhaps 5th or 6th floor also for good views (not sure were closed balconies start though) :)

I have a question. I made reservations through AAA and was told my room will be woods view, one queen, bunks with rails, no smoking, and a refrig for $10 extra a night. After reading so much about requesting a room I am confused. I don't know if i actually get the type of room my reservations say or do i still have to fax a request?? jama

Jama-
Your agent at AAA will probably fax your request. Check with him/her. My TA faxed mine down - but remember they can not promise bunks - we requested them but did not get them!:D

We had room 7043 which had bunks and an AWESOME view of the 'river' and inner courtyard. We were more toaward the main part of the U (rather than out toward the bay) and we were happy. We had a sideways view of the bay which was fine for viewing the EWP. I imagine 6043,5043,3043 etc would have a similar nice view.
Im still working on the trip report. Give me a few more days!
:-)

First, I was wondering if anyone can tell me about the Cub's Den & how much it costs. Our DS will be almost 4 when we visit WL 12/5-12/15 & we thought he might enjoy it (and DH & I might enjoy a nice dinner to ourselves). Also, we are booked for a standard room & have requested non-smoking due to severe asthma/allergies. I plan on sending a fax a few days before we leave. After reading about the standard rooms overlooking the service area, I know I will not be happy if we get one of those rooms. Since WL is booked pretty solid, what do you think the chances are of getting an upgrade, either by faxing a request or at check-in. At this point, I would be willing to pay extra for a better room. Our travel documents are already in, though, so I am reluctant to make any changes to my official reservations at this point. Any imput?

When we were there in July, the Cub's Den was $8 per hour with a 4 hour minimum. We didn't use it however we did go into the room that they used for an afternoon craft time. They had plenty of stuff to keep little ones busy. We plan to use it next time while we go to EPCOT WS.

As far as the upgrade, nothing is guaranteed, but I would definitely fax them with your situation. For sure put in your fax about the asthma/allergies, that should put you above others in the request dept. since it is a medical need.

We stayed in room 4167 that was right at the end facing the lake and the beach. It was a great view! We could see the geyser if we leaned out a bit to the left and enjoyed watching the activity on the lake. It felt like we were on vacation at a lake resort!

It was a courtyard view with a "lake view" preference on our reservation.

It was a bit of a walk from the elevators but the view was worth it to us. There is a stairwell that was nice to use to go to the pool or the boat dock.

Hope this helps!

DH and I are heading to WDW/WL Dec 10-15. We are checking in at about 8:00 PM. Last time we stayed there in June 2000 we got a room that was off the lobby, 4th floor, side opposite the check in desks, i.e. right above the fireplace and facing woods (we had paid for Standard view but I am thinking this may have been an upgrade to Woods view, not sure). I loved opening the door in the morning and walking right out into the ambiance of the lobby. We have booked a Courtyard view for our upcoming trip and so I would like to get a room that opens on to the lobby and faces the courtyard if possible. I have been told that these rooms exist but there are few of them. Anyone know what these room numbers are, floors, etc.? Also, what exactly do I request, the information I have set out here or specific room numbers? Thanks!

Hi I have a question regarding rollaway beds, we are staying in the villas, studio room at first it was going to be dh and me but now it will be dd and her boyfriend :) I already paid for the studio, so Does anyone know about this? Thanks much..........goof

Lonestarstatelady, if you get that information, please pass it on to me! We will be there from the 29th to the 5th, and I am looking for the same type of room! I just don't know how to request it! Are you as excited as I am??????

We absolutely fell in love with the WL last time we were there. It reminded me exactly of the Old Faithful Inn at Yellowstone. After that, I knew I had to see the WL at Christmas, and I had no idea until I started planning that there is so much else to do at Christmas! So much so, that I am having a hard time fitting it all in to our 5.5 day itinerary!
